Google Maps is Just a Suggestion
Get Lost With Me
Twist ties and umbilical cords
Every highway entrance is a noodle
Every exit is a pretzel
We are constantly twisting ourselves in and out of situations
Slithering, flopping around
Fish out of water surviving in puddles of fizzy energy drinks and almond milk.
Is it the adrenaline that keeps us going
Or the promise of a sunrise after a too dark night
Perhaps it’s just spaghetti tacos and knowing that we still love ‘em even when they fall apart
Like I still love you when you fall apart
Earphone cord wrapped round my body
As you heave in and out the world that weighs too heavy, too loud
Or how we give each other finger heart farts and always get a treat for the other at the store
I hope to never flop out of this, only stumble and skitter and crash into you
We’ve got clumsy in common
Love marks and bite tracks
And a collection of the most mismatched funky mugs that always make us laugh when tough lookin’ men drink from them
You soften the world with your warmth
And while I had no idea where this poem would lead to, know that each path and line has led me to you
You’re my final destination,
Home

P.S. there’s an ice cream sandwich waiting for you in the freezer
