Lisbon Pride Parade 2012

Just a few thoughts and processes.

Its as though it was in another lifetime, the eager will of assembly. The urge to unite and protest in aid of a humans who seek to love freely. Gay pride is the affirmation of dignity, equality and increased visibility of a spectrum of queers individuals.

I am living in a time where its is still illegal to be gay in 71 countries around the world. It is a strong reminder that although we have found more visibility and acceptance in the western perception of queerness, queer people around the world struggle to come out. Why? Fear of violence.

The year is 2021 and yellow brick road has formed across the decades and the brickwork is being laid for future generations to build upon. Will we make it to the emerald city? Will we have the heart? the courage and brain power to expose more of who we are and why we are here.. our purpose .

We have always been here. We are queer beings. Creative human creatures of love and joy. I believe this to be true. Spiritually i believe we come into existence from our mothers as a godly response of nature. We get the party started. We question your beliefs. Are you compassionate? Are you willing to look outside of yourself? This thing called life and the time we have, the people we meet. We come in peace.

We have hopes and dreams. We want all of us to come together and live life for love. We have so much to bring out from within. You couldn't even imagine the ideas we conceptualize in our minds... our forces of creativity, the imaginary utopia of divine trinity, never ending bliss. We can all learn and understand from each other. We cannot live in fear of violence. We don't want to be violent but we do have strong belief that many have come before us and many of us are out there just waiting to to start the party.

When thus encounters a human being that has proposed an alternative, one has to reflect on the living organisms of bio-diversity and how that has performed in nature. The human experience is one of massive diversity, one that has evolved and purged the zeitgeist. the total Embracing of the diversity of humanity and what that means. As a whole we are not a threat to nature. We are an asset. We are peacekeepers, communal, tribal and spiritual. We are exhibitionists of love. We persevere. We haven't fought physical wars but our societal wars of engagement in history has been one hell of a century long featurette with episodes and landmarks. Human rights. Queer rights. LGBTQ+ Rights. Our lives. Our hopes.

What do we know about queer individuals in the future? The potential for community, the potential for an alternative society. A stronger collective. A stronger hope for prosperity. We will all benefit from the work we all put into the system. The chaos of your identity seemingly might be perceived as anomaly but you should not give in. If at some point you lose hope. Remember that all your divas are there to shine the light of hope of the life of love. For every queer individual along history has brought forward tolerance and acceptance and so we are here my friends.

The pandemic closed down some or most of our lives, our daily habits, our workplaces, our bars. It has forced us to rethink, imagine and build new ways of survival. We acknowledge how fragile our collective can actually be faced in a crisis. Hope that we can be better prepared for the future. The queer community is what we make of it. We must not let go of the work that's already been done, but build upon it, try and recover what's lost. I..I..I have the faith and belief that real freedom from within shall come.
