The Science of Weed on the Brain
Synaptic transmission is the process in which signaling chemicals or molecules known as neurotransmitters are passed along from neuron to neuron (nerve cells) in our brain. In the neuron, the neurotransmitters are stored in the synaptic vesicles and the part of the neuron that holds these vesicles is the axon terminal. Neurotransmitters come with their own specific receptors that the neurotransmitters bind to and become activated by (Iverson, 2000, p. 52).
EGO DEATH
“The first time I experienced an ego dissolution,” says 26-year-old Bradley from Idaho, USA, “I took four and a half grams of magic mushrooms. At first, I tried to concentrate on getting myself back a bit, but of course, that didn’t work. The mushrooms knew better what I needed. So I just kept telling myself, “I’m not going to die, even though it may feel that way.”

Minor Cannabinoids CBG & CBN CBG- Although the chemical composition of the cannabis plant has been around for ten thousand years, we continue to discover amazing new things about its vast and mysterious nature. Most people know about THC and CBD but there are over four hundred other cannabinoids present in cannabis that have positive medicinal effects on humans. CBG (Cannabigerol) is one of the new cannabis compounds being studied. As the chemical precursor to THCA and CBDA, CBG is known as the “Mother Cannabinoid” since it is the origin of all the rest.
Zach MountfordPublished 3 years ago in PotentThe Healing Powers of Psychedelic Drugs
There are substances found in nature that have been used in many spiritual traditions and various healing ceremonies as medicine for thousands of years that are known widely as “psychedelics”. This term was coined by one of the first researchers to study Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Humphry Osmond in 1957. The word derives from the two Greek words “psyche” (mind) and “dele” (manifesting) in reference to how the substances literally manifest in the mind. In the mid-1900’s psychedelic compounds were deemed by many governments around the globe as having no use in society, and therefore made illegal. However, studies done before they had been associated with politics and a cultural movement, showed tremendous power in enhancing human life. Specifically in the treatment of mental illnesses such as addiction and depression. As a cultural shift is taking place more people have opened their eyes to the benefits that psychedelics have, previous research is starting to be accepted, and new research is being done to validate it and find out precisely how these substances can be used to benefit humanity. Psychedelic substances have allowed researchers to find breakthroughs in PTSD treatment, anxiety relief and depression in those with life-threatening illnesses, and new ways to treat addiction. Psychedelic substances have the power to treat and eliminate mental illnesses when combined with education and psychotherapy, and can even replace currently prescribed medications.
Zachary BoulangerPublished 3 years ago in PotentSeven Ways Cannabis Can Affect The Brain.
Cannabis is becoming more mainstream across the US and indeed the world. And while cannabis has a reputation as a relatively harmless drug, researchers are increasingly learning about its possible effects on the brain.
The Troubled History of Psychedelic Research
Amid the world wars, Cold War, and culture wars, Swiss writer Walter Vogt called LSD “the only joyous invention of the twentieth century.” The psychedelic drug that would come to define the counterculture of the 1960s got its beginnings not as a recreational substance thrown around at music festivals, but instead as one of the century’s most exciting discoveries for academic fields as diverse as neuroscience, psychology, and psychotherapy.
