In the battle of sativa vs indica, who wins?

If there's one huge debate that always seems to get stoners going, it's the sativa vs. indica argument. At first glance, you'd expect it all to be the same. After all, most non-smokers would just assume that pot is pot.

However, we all know it's really not so simple. They're different species and that means that they will have different traits. They also taste slightly different, too.

Both cannabis strains are awesome, and they both get you high, but it'd be a boldfaced lie to say that they are the same. Both sativa and indica strains have different levels of THC and CBD, which means that the highs you get from each kind will be different.

The big difference smokers notice is the level of cannabinoids in each plant. As many people can tell you sativa cannabis strains have high levels of THC, but low levels of CBD. Indica cannabis strains, on the other hand, tend to have high levels of CBD and low levels of THC. So, in the battle of sativa vs indica, which wins?

As you can probably guess, it's not that easy a debate to solve.

Cannabis indicas are better if you tend to get anxious, paranoid, or jittery when you smoke pot.

Cannabis indica strains have low amounts of THC, which is actually a really good thing for people with anxiety. When you have high levels of THC, your body might react by increasing its reaction to anxiety. This is what makes people get paranoid when they smoke pot.

With indicas effects, smokers feel calmer and more uplifted. This is what CBD does. Some may even go so far as to say that indica tends to leave people with a more body-centric high. Because of its calming effects, indica strains are generally seen as a very effective way to mellow out anxiety.

Additionally, cannabis indica is a definite winner in the battle of sativa vs indica if you are looking to soothe aches and pains. The reason why is because it works as a muscle relaxer and also promotes healing inside the body. Athletes probably should take this form of cannabis as a result.

But, if you love the feeling of THC and get giddy off of it, then you'll prefer sativa strains.

In the battle of sativa vs indica, THC is a major factor. A lot of smokers really love the uplifting, giggle-inducing, slightly emotional high of THC-loaded cannabis. For people who love the happy feeling of THC, then sativa wins this battle, hands down. Perhaps that's why it's being used to combat depression?

It's also worth noting that sativa strains are typically used as an effective way to get people to eat. Cannabis's legendary appetite-inducing characteristic are because of the high levels of THC people get in cannabis sativa. So, if you're having stomach sickness, nausea, or eating issues, smoking this definitely will work in your favor.

Sativa strains are also used to medicate people who are feeling a dip in creativity. Needless to say, these strains are an artist's best friend.

If you're looking to grow, the sativa vs indica battle tends to be pretty straight forward.

When it comes to planting cannabis, it's pretty easy to determine which wins the sativa vs indica debate - at least, when it comes to a planter's needs. The difference is striking.

Have you seen sativa plants? They are huge. Some grow as high as 15 feet tall. These plants are long and thin, and tend to be incredibly fast-growing. Obviously, sativa plants would be excellent for those who want to grow plants outdoors. However, they'd be a nightmare to try to grow indoors - or God forbid, in a closet.

On the other hand, indica plants tend to be smaller and more compact, which make them ideal for indoor growing operations. Indica plants also have a shorter flowering cycle than sativa plants tend to, so that's a nice perk to have, too.

It's worth noting that there are hybrid strains out there that have both, and that both plants also have varying levels of cannabinoids.

Hybrid indica plants can be made to be very potent CBD powerhouses. Hybrid sativa plants can be made into THC-packed gems. Planters have been growing strains that have both indica and sativa in them. Indica sativa hybrids are fun, too, and they don't always get the love they deserve.

Some sativa strains have as much CBD as some indica strains. Every strain has different percentages and ratios - and that's something to consider. You can't always base your smoking experience on the cannabis species.

So, though there is some difference, depending on the cannabis strains you're smoking, the difference may be smaller than you think. If you ask me, the sativa vs indica battle is something that just needs to be over with. Can't we just appreciate marijuana as a whole?
