The coronavirus pandemic has affected our daily lives and routines in different ways, making normal, everyday activities such as shopping for clothes and dining out high-risk activities that could potentially contribute to the spreading of the virus. In a time when following rules and restrictions such as social distancing, wearing a mask, and staying at home has become the norm, it’s easy to start feeling stressed out and anxious about what’s to come.

Listening to the news about the rising number of cases doesn’t help either, and at one point or another, we all start looking for ways to relieve this enormous stress we’re feeling and do so in the safest way possible. Getting your hands on your favorite strain may be the answer, but with epidemic raging, how can you make sure that you’re getting high safely? Below, five tips for practicing safe cannabis use during COVID-19.

Avoid sharing

This can be a difficult thing to do because community and sharing are something the cannabis culture is deeply rooted in. A hazy session with your friends may sound appealing right now, and although sharing is caring, given the current global health crisis we’ve found ourselves in, it’s best that you make getting high a solo activity for now. It may not be as fun, but for now, it’s something we have to do to stay safe.

If you are, however, getting high with a small group of friends, make safety your top priority. That means avoiding sharing your stash as well as the tools you use to consume your strains, whether that’s a bong, a joint, a pipe, or a vaping device. Make sure to sterilize these tools after each use and rely on a high percentage of isopropyl alcohol to disinfect and clean them.

Have it delivered

If there is a marijuana dispensary in your town, you’re in luck, as this could be one of the best and safest ways to get your hands on high-quality cannabis products during the pandemic in a very short time, which will usually be an hour or less depending on the distance. Having your weed dropped off at your door safely is simply a matter of finding a reliable weed delivery service near you and placing an order. Once you’ve placed it, you can track your delivery order, and you can also schedule a delivery time for the next day.

Thanks to a buffet of options provided by marijuana dispensaries, you can get your hands on everything from edibles and topicals to tinctures and pre-rolls to tame stress and ease racing thoughts. Stick with new rules, have exact change ready, and you should have no trouble ensuring a safe delivery.

Pick it up

Other than having your weed delivered directly to your doorstep, you also have the option to pick up your order in-store. Many dispensaries are adapting the way they operate to fit the new rules and regulations. As a result, more of them are running a curbside pickup service.

The staff are all wearing protective masks and gloves and everything is periodically sanitized to make interactions as safe as possible during the pandemic. Of course, the number of people who can enter the store is limited to prevent the spread of the virus, and the floors are marked in order for customers to remain at a safe distance from one another and the staff. If you select this option, make sure to order in advance by pre-ordering online. In doing so, you’ll minimize the time you spend in the waiting room and limit interactions for a safe pickup.

Use a new container for storage

Whether you get your weed delivered or opt for an in-store pickup, it’s essential that you take proper safety measures after bringing your order inside. Viruses can survive on paper and plastic containers for a long time after you’ve received your order.

Therefore, it’s important that you dispose of the store packaging immediately after unpacking the order and wash your hands afterwards. Make sure that any edibles, buds, and extracts you’ve ordered are stored in a new container, preferably in an air-tight glass container.

Get your supplies from trusted sources only

With the coronavirus cases on the rise and new measures being imposed by the government, many dispensaries are shutting their businesses down temporarily or halting their services due to the panic. That said, there are dispensaries that are still continuing to work during COVID-19, although it may not always be easy or possible to access them.

Although it’s often said that desperate times require desperate measures, this by no means justifies getting your dosage from the Black market. Getting high safely during the pandemic means getting your supplies from trusted sources only, and turning to local dispensaries is currently seen as one of the best practices for ensuring hygiene and safety.

Wrapping up

As we continue to adjust to the new normal by wearing our masks and distancing ourselves socially, we can’t help but wonder when we’re going to be able to continue with our normal everyday activities. What we can do is try to look for safe ways to manage stress while being cooped up in the house. Given how cannabis is an effective frustration reducer, there’s no reason to stop getting high during the pandemic – you only have to make sure you’re doing it safely.
