If you're thinking how often should you clean your bong, there’s actually a really simple method to cleaning out a bong, whether it’s to prevent it from getting dirty or to remove dirt that’s already accumulated. If possible, parts should be removed to clean separately – especially your stem and bowl. Get your hands on everything above and you’re set to go…

Use your rock salt, table salt or sea salt for the bottom of your bong; pour it in alongside 70 to 90% isopropyl alcohol. Once that’s done, hold your bong by covering the top and stem hole with a towel before giving it a good shake, swirling around the mixture and making it hit everywhere it possibly can. Then rinse out your equipment and allow it to dry in a cool space, before moving back to storage ahead of your next high!

To clean your down stem, pipe or bowl, you first want to soak the piece in boiling water so that the bulk of the dirt’s build-up can easily be removed. Then place your pieces in a plastic container with salt and rubbing alcohol, before shaking vigorously and rinsing clean. If any spots persist, you can use a pipe cleaner or bottle brush to get at them, and again, remember to allow the piece to dry completely before re-use.

Just rinse out your piece with hot, boiled water so that resin droplets will be removed from your bong. Once you’ve done this, let your bong air dry in a cool area and you’re set to get high another day.
