Sandy was naked staring into her tub with her phone in her hand.

Irritated as all get out.

And she had no idea why. She also knew that the steamy shadows the candlelight was making on the wall was enough to let her know that her bath water was still excessively hot.

So she finally put the phone in the basket with the wash cloths and then retrieved the amethyst ashtray and lighter bringing it with her.

Sandy sunk into the tub and then lit the remnant cone of Cookie Face and inhaled slowly. She then put the ashtray on the floor next to the tub before exhaling then letting the cone teeter in the bevel again.

She sunk down in the bubbles and watched them fizz and spin around her like little popping rainbows as the flames from the candle make the suds sparkle even more.

All of the tension melted away from Sandy’s limbs and she reached into another basket that was strategically placed around her tub and took out a bath pillow to prop behind her head.

She promised herself she wouldn’t soak too long. She had a bad habit of sitting in the tub until her little fingers and toes pruned up and her water was tepid. Only to let tub drain half way, plug it back up to refill it with steaming hot water.

One time, Sandy spent the night at one of her sisters and when she came out of the bathroom, her sister, with her mouth agape and pointing a finger remarked how Sandy had steam emanating from her.

“My God how dirty do you think you are that you boil yourself?”

Sandy tried to laugh it off, but became concerned when her sister still had a look of horror on her face.

“What Sis, what?” Sandy said with her eyes widened.

“That doesn’t hurt?”

“On the contrary, Sis the hot water soothes my muscles you know I’m on my feet most of the day teachin and what not”

“I’m more worried bout your skin bein dry.”

Sandy waved off her sister over the phone and said, “Chile, don’t chu worry about that, I put enough bath oils in the tub to soften my skin.”

“Way minute here heffa, you live alone and you put bathoils in yo tub so you can slip, fall, and bust yo head wide open and die on me? Do I have to buy you one of them Life Alert necklaces?”

“Good Lawd please don’t do that”, Sandy said through laughter.

And she was literally laughing at herself in the bathtub until she noticed the bubbles weren’t billowing anymore and the water was beginning to chill; so she reached under the water and pulled out the stopper then placed it in it’s designated basket.

As the water was draining in the tub, she peeked over into the ashtray to make sure the cone was out and then she blew out all of the candles, snuffed the incense, disposed of what needed to be disposed of and then turned the water on for a shower.

Yes, Sandy realized it was kind of redundant to cleanse herself twice, but she also didn’t like the thought of marinating in her own dirt and then going straight to bed.

So yes, she showered after she bathed.

Then smoked weed and prayed before bed.

And if all of that is unusual, Sandy had no idea; but every once in a while when she has a little too much time on her hands, she would ponder over her quirky idiosyncrasies and realize maybe she wasn’t so bad if someone wanted to eat breakfast with her quirky ass.
