Of the thousands upon thousands of people that strive to set world records each year, only a handful succeed. From the world's largest ball of yarn to the world's largest fingernails, people have thought of some incredibly unique ways to get their names into the record books. This statement stands true for connoisseurs of cannabis as much as it does for anyone else. While the following categories don't all appear in the Guinness Book Of World Records, the craziest cannabis world records have been well documented to set a very high bar for any competition to come.

Largest Marijuana Plantation

In the early 2010s, Mexican police busted the largest weed plantation yet to be discovered. The 300-acre plot of land contained tens of thousands of plants, many growing over 8' tall. Projections showed that the plantation would have produced approximately 120 tons of marijuana at the next harvest, a crop valued at about $160 million. This may not be the largest bust, but the field's size is definitely a cannabis world record. The field was so large that the cultivators covered it with a massive black net to avoid detection by sky surveillance.

Largest Legal Greenhouse

Of course, the largest legal growing operation is significantly smaller than the largest illegal one. Located in Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario, Park Lane Farms holds the record for the largest legal medical cannabis grow op in the world. Their greenhouse spans over 350,000 square feet and carries over 17 different strains.

Largest Joint

Tony Greenhand is known for his joints. From guns to dinosaurs to pokemon, Greenhand makes joints in artistic shapes. For a 4/20 celebration one year, Greenhand set the record for the world's largest joint. Over the course of five days he rolled a 4.20 lb joint that he then crafted to look like a watermelon. The joint required a hose for proper smoking, and Greenhand even created a stand so that it could be comfortably housed.

Largest Dab

Dab Stars is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in cannabis concentrates, so it’s not surprising that they hold the record for the largest dab ever smoked. In 2015, the company hosted an event that served one purpose: to break the existing dab record of 90 grams. They didn't just succeed, they broke it by a lot. They sparked up just over 400 grams of hash, beating the previous record by over four times.

Most Joints Smoked by a Single Person

Irvin Rosenfeld broke a cannabis world records on his own, without a team. His record, unlike many of the others on this list, is recognized in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records under “most pot consumed.” At the time that he set the record, Rosenfeld had consumed over 115,000 joints, which is more than any other documented individual in history. You have to wonder what that number's up to today.

Largest Hotbox Session

This cannabis world record was set during the 2015 Kush Cup in Vancouver. A group filled a room with enough smoke to get all of its inhabitants high. This was achieved using 422 grams of concentrates, which were poured into hot pans to create thick, billowing clouds of smoke.

Strongest Sativa Strain

Ghost Train Haze has broken records at multiple Cannabis Cups, coming in with a higher THC content than any other entry. It has a THC potency of 25.5 percent, and the strain is closely guarded by its growers, Rare Dankness Seeds.

This cannabis world record changes often, but there are a few strains that pop up in first place time after time.
