It's been said that people that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life.
My Furry Friends
In the woods, cold, dark, windy. Casted away, Abandoned. My feline friends forgotten. In a cardboard box i found them. So small and apprehensive to my welcoming hand. You were so young, how could you know. That this place. Yes, this place would be called your new home and we became your loving brood. Entering the doorway with wide eyes, and teeth bare.

My cat Bailey passed away last year during the start of the pandemic. I was fortunate enough to have the privilege and opportunity to work from during his last few days. Terrible things happen in the world around us daily, but one thing I’ve learned is you can always find the fruit in a dark season. One being, how grateful I was because of this awful pandemic, I got to be home with my boy during his final hours.

If you had told my younger self that I would one day have a cat. I probably wouldn't believe you. Growing up, my parents would make any excuse for not having an animal in the home. We always had stray cats that would appear time from time, but then after a while, they would leave.

You know, when I saw this channel on Vocal, I was excited. I knew who my empawyee of the month was straight away, because I sent a picture I took of her to a popular magazine in the UK. I got £25 quid for it, and a big buzz from the publication. I don’t think she was bothered that much because she dosen’t read magazines much. I think she would shred it to bits if there was one near by.

Since the beginning, she has stuck by my side. Even once I gained the strength to leave my boyfriend at the time, having a football-sized benign tumor removed, many bad relationships, and thru so many tears.
An Ode To My Cat, Who Might One Day Eat My Face
There is a fact that gives me solace in the darkest of moments, a small flame of truth that burns like a candle flickering in the wind.

My name is Winnie. It’s short for Winchester. My human, Paul, said Winchester sounded too serious. Paul, my sister Daisy, and I all work in our home office for Seniors Junction. It’s very important work, and I do my best to keep the team productive every day. Seniors Junction is a startup, whatever that means. I know that we have recorded a lot of podcasts, and I have made sure that I appear in every one! Sometimes I tried typing a bit on the computer keyboard, but Paul shouted, “No Winnie, don’t walk on the keyboard.” I also make sure the webcam gets a good view of me as I walk on the desk.

One never expects to be in rescue mode on one's way to McDonald's but on a sunny day in September 2019 a sudden decision had to be made.

I called her Nieve at first, because she came two weeks before a big snowstorm. La nieve is the vocabulary word for snow, in Spanish, but I gave it a Slavic twist. A friend’s mom was going to the Republic of Georgia to teach politics and needed someone to take care of her. So, her name was said as one syllable. Nyev. She was white as snow, with blue eyes.

Well it all started when I moved into this new house in a new neighborhood. I had met the roommate already and she was nice and in a way reminded me of my old cat when I was a kid. Pure black and meows all the time! I didn’t see it coming, but a love affair was on the horizon apparently. I found myself coming into this house with no furniture to bring. My new housemate offered a friend of her’s second hand bed for $250. It sounded great! And when I saw the photo it seemed even greater. There was this black cat again that I had met lounging on the sofa when I inspected the house. She was walking on the bed and little did I know that this was a place where she’d often come.

Growing up can be tough for us humans so it’s no different from animals. I won’t list all the breeds of animals that have it tough growing up, but just know it’s a lot. No different from your very own furry buddy.

In my eyes, school can count as work. Firstly, you are completing paperwork so someone can criticize it. Secondly, you are reading and reviewing material nobody else in their right mind would want to read and review. Thirdly, you are on a regular schedule of rising early in the morning for classes you may or may not want to attend and staying up way beyond what is healthy for the average human being to complete the assignments for the day because someone else needed you all day long.
