My Jada!

I found myself lonely without a dog. I was looking for about a year, for a small dog. Looking at humane rescue alliance.org., there was a picture of a small dog. This one was a pekingese and pomeranian. There, I found Jada! Jada had a rough start in life, finding herself alone and abandoned on the streets. But fate had something special in store for her – the ASPCA (https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/adopt).

Jada was discovered by the compassionate staff at ASPCA, who immediately saw the potential for a wonderful companionship between Jada and a loving family. The staff showered Jada with care, attention, and affection, helping her heal from the wounds of her past.

One day, a kind-hearted person (being myself) visited the ASPCA looking for a furry friend to join my home. As soon as I laid eyes on Jada, it was love at first sight. Jada, too, seemed to sense that I was meant to be hers.

Jada

The adoption process was smooth, and soon enough, Jada found herself in a warm and welcoming home. I named her "forever friend," and Jada couldn't have been happier. She had a comfy bed, delicious meals, and, most importantly, a person that cherished her. Jada quickly became an integral part of myself. She brought joy, laughter, and unconditional love into my lives. Whether it was playtime in the backyard, cozy cuddles on the couch, or long walks in the neighborhood, Jada embraced every moment with enthusiasm.

Myself, grateful for the joy that Jada brought into my live, often shared stories of her journey from being a lonely street dog to a cherished member of my household. Jada's tale became an inspiration for others to consider adopting pets from shelters and giving them a chance at a better life.

And so, Jada's story became a testament to the transformative power of love and adoption. In her new home, surrounded by warmth and care, Jada thrived, proving that every animal, regardless of their past, deserves a chance to be someone's beloved companion.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals works to save animals from dogfighting, puppy mills, hoarding and other cruelty situations. They provide animals with medical care and behavioral rehabilitation, and they help thousands of animals find loving homes every year. They respond to emergencies when disaster strikes and fight for stronger laws to protect animals.

They most commonly need to place dogs over 40 lbs or adult cats who need medical attention or who find shelter life stressful. If you are able to provide a temporary home to one of these animals, they will be able to match you quickly!

They are always looking to welcome new foster families into the HRA network—it’s the best way to expand the number of animals we can save in our community. You don’t need to have previous animal experience to become a foster; just a love of animals and a willingness to learn. They only place animals in foster homes who need special care before they can be adopted or are having difficulty adjusting to shelter life.

Jada

In 1870, the Humane Rescue Alliance (then operating as the Washington Humane Society) was charged by a congressional charter to protect the children and animals of the District of Columbia, creating the foundation for the organization’s law enforcement work and its pursuit of preventing animal cruelty in the District. HRA remains the only congressionally-chartered animal welfare organization in the country.

HRA has over 150 years of experience serving our communities, including conducting cruelty investigations, providing animal control services, and advocating for federal, state, and local legislation and policies that protect animals.

The Humane Rescue Alliance leverages the unique strengths of its legacy organizations, the Washington Humane Society, The Washington Animal Rescue League and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, to grow families through adoption, protect animals from harm, and provide programs and resources so people and pets can stay together. Our collective expands our reach and allows us to accomplish more for the animals we care for and the communities we serve.

As an ASPCA Guardian, your monthly gift will help innocent and neglected animals who feel like they've been forgotten. The ASPCA is a national leader in animal rescue and protection, working tirelessly year-round to put an end to animal cruelty. None of this critical work would be possible without compassionate people like you!

So now its time for me not to be so lonely! Jada and I will be together for all time!
