Cats are one of the most loved animals kept as pet by human being. They are not only cute and attractive by their look, but also have an importance in nature as well. Researchers claim that cats have brought a huge decline in the population of birds and other small living creatures because they kill them for their food as prey. The risk of transferring allergen to home from cats through children's is also seen. Well, cats may have these slight negative impact on environment but when it comes to benefit we have to be thankful to cats.

According to scientific research on benefits of cats. Cat helps the society maintaining the balance of ecosystem in number of ways.

Cats kill harmful animals

When cats were eliminated on Australian island, a huge population of rats were seen in that particular area. Rats are enemies to birds, their eggs and other small creatures, when the population of rats were high, a decline in population of birds were seen, which is not good for the food chain of nature.

Cats kill the weakest animals

eating weakest animals like birds or rodents doesn't mean they need these animals as their food or those animals don't have the ability to camouflage themselves. In fact, they don't kill them at all, they only take them to their mouth to make other prey population become stronger and best adept to their environment.

Cats help the other animals become smarter

Some animals which are mostly prey of cats learn that cat are dangerous to their survival, that's why they learn, cats should be avoided. They not only learn, but they also teach this lesson to their next generation, like this the whole population become smarter by avoiding cats, and live and reproduce more safely.

Cats help to maintain the balance of ecosystem

When the population of prey rises, it affects the natural balance of environment. When cats were eliminated from Australian island not only rats but the population of rabbit also raised which resulted in the decline in albatross habitat, because of rabbits grazing. By preying these overpopulated rabbits, cats help to maintain a stable ecosystem.

The cats are predators, maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Predators kill prey that have a higher population in nature.
