Bronte

Being a good girl is a full time job.

Name:

Bronte, taken from the Greek cyclops Brontes, her name means thunder, a precursor of what was to come. As a puppy she was a whirlwind of non-sleeping fluffy brown energy. The perfect storm thundering happiness and love on our life daily.

Age:

4 (human) years old

Description:

A mixture of elephant eyes, shoebill stork face and bear coat… I mean Labradoodle. Curly milk chocolate fur with hazel eyes and lashes for days.

Hazel eyes

Job:

Bronte is one of three Personal Emotion Trainers and Supporters, or PETS, in the house. Answering to her Jack Russel x Chihuahua supervisor, 13-year-old Woody, Bronte was recently promoted from youngest PETS, a position she has held since she was 8 weeks old, to associate with the addition of Labradoodle puppy, Lily-Mae.

Duties:

This 24 hours, 7 days a week job is not for those who are easily intimidated, Bronte however has taken her role and made it her own. Since her humans work from home, the job never ends for Bronte and her fellow PETS, but when needed she is the first to offer support.

Most large dogs would just accept the fact they are not lap dogs. Not Bronte. This big, beautiful girl does not discriminate against size and has become a role model for big dogs hoping to one day become champion lap dogs.

One of Bronte’s favourite duties is playing fetch with her humans. She will eagerly retrieve the ball thrown over and over until her humans are ready to go back inside, not once questioning whether the humans should fetch their own ball.

Part of Bronte’s daily routine includes showing up wherever you are, whether she is needed or not. Working? Bronte can help with that. Making dinner? You’ve got a willing taste tester by your side. Need some alone time? Wait, where’d you go? Oh there you are!

Being the second PETS in command, Bronte is respectful of her supervisor (never stealing his food) and patient with the new PETS recruit, allowing Lily-Mae to jump up at her ears and play with her tail.

Qualifications:

Puppy Preschool, class of 2017

Graduation Day

Salary:

Being called the bestest girl in the world. Bonus: treats.

Hobbies:

During her down time, Bronte enjoys relaxing on the sofa with a good toy and a spot of tv. This hobby began from an early age when she would stop to watch any dogs that appeared on the screen. Bronte will happily watch an entire movie and binge Pup Academy on Netflix. Favourites movies include Air Buddies, Spooky Buddies, Snow Buddies and The Secret Life of Pets.

Watching Snow Buddies

During summer, Bronte cools off in her very own paddling pool. Jumping and splashing in the refreshing water before rolling around on the carpet-like turf in the bright Australian sun.

Key Phrases:

“Where’s my girl,” meaning the humans want cuddles. Whenever said Bronte will run over and show off her lap dog skills.

“Boo,” meaning run away with tail wagging and then come back to get booed again.

“Go for a drive,” meaning watch out for danger as the humans drive the car, most likely with head out of the window.

“Where’s (insert name),” meaning rescue the humans from immediate danger of disappearing behind their hands, being in another room or when they’re the ‘hide’ in hide and seek.

“Who’s hungry?” meaning tasty food is coming her way.

“Go outside and play,” meaning the humans want to throw the ball and Bronte is needed to fetch it.

“Where’s the puppies?” meaning her favourite show or movie is on the tv.

Special Skills:

Bronte is an attentive listener, tilting her head from side to side during a conversation. This is a big crowd pleaser.

Ask for “paw” and Bronte will gladly raise her paw in exchange for pats or treats.

Spin is a trick skill learnt as a puppy and is brought out on special occasions or when extra treats are required.

Bronte is the most friendly, subservient, loving, kind dog I have ever met. She is a friend of anyone she meets and more importantly, she is my best bud.
