Saying yes to your special someone is the first step in the magical journey to getting married. Before wedding bells can start ringing, you actually have to plan out the details.

You definitely want everything to be perfect on your wedding day. Chances are, you have at least fantasized about some aspects of your wedding. I remember at uni making a list of what our wedding might look like when the day came.

Interesting to compare the list, with how each of our weddings worked out.

One of the first things your wedding stylist will want you to decide on will be the theme, and its corresponding colors.

This is very important, as the overall theme will help you to make decisions regarding all the myriad elements of your wedding.

With a solid theme in mind, you will be able to bring together all the details of the event to form the ideal ceremony and celebration.

Here are some popular color themes that you can use for your summer wedding. Maybe they can help you come up with a central theme, too!

Cool Citrus

The heat of summer is best complemented with the fresh tanginess of citrus. Not only can you serve lemonade at your reception, but you can also use the colors of citrus fruits as your wedding theme.

Yellow, orange, and even red are great colors for making your wedding stand out. Be careful not to overwhelm your guests, though!

Having one or two bright colors is excellent, but remember to use at least one lighter or neutral color to go along with them. You can use a pale yellow for this, or a more natural green tone.

Summer Days

Summer days are bright and beautiful: the best time for a memorable party. You can use the blue of the sky above and yellow rays of sunshine as your theme colors.

These colors are cheerful and optimistic, which is great symbolism for your wedding. The colors herald a bright future. You can also add white or silver to represent clouds.

Using these colors is also great for generating design ideas for your invitation cards, and other stationery.

Green of Grass

Whether you are having an indoor or outdoor wedding, you can always involve nature in your special day. Green goes well with many other colors, and is pervasive throughout nature.

You can use natural elements such as grass, leaves, or succulents in your wedding theme, which can help to bring extra freshness.

To keep things simple, you can pair green with a plain white. Otherwise, you can also choose to go with a neutral earth tone, or a rich red earth.

Island Paradise

Who does not want to get married on a beach? Better still if it is on a breezy island. Well, you can still bring the beach to your wedding if you want to!

The sapphire blue of the sea, and the beige of sand, can be used in your tropical paradise wedding theme.

If these colors seem too dull for you, add an extra pop of color with a vibrant red, orange, or pink.

Royal Blush

With all the talk about blushing brides, pale pink is always a popular choice for wedding theme colors. It is innocent and pure, and brings to mind happy times of childhood.

To contrast with this color, you can go for a rich purple or burgundy.

A more mature color helps to symbolize your next step in life. They are also powerful colors reminiscent of royalty, which you can further emphasize with gold or silver.

Elegant Evening

Summer sunsets are always brilliant. Similarly, shades of purple can be an excellent choice for your wedding.

You can elect to go for pastel shades, or bright jewel tones. Either decision you make, your wedding will be an elegant affair with these colors, whether they are represented in the clothes, cake, or decorations.

Pristine Prince and Princess

White is the traditional color when it comes to weddings. It is the optimal color for new beginnings, and blank slates. There is a large selection of colors to complement the cleanness of white.

These include ivory, blush, various shades of blue, and even just plain silver or gold.

Any combination will help to elevate your wedding to an event worthy of royalty.
