Islam views marriage as one of the most significant institutions. Marriage is important and has worth in Allah's eyes, according to the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Sunnah. Islamic belief holds that marriage is a means of creating families and achieving love, harmony, and calm between two people.

The Quran describes marriage as a sacred bond between a man and a woman: “And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that he may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.” (Quran 30:21) The verse emphasizes how crucial marriage is for achieving calm and peace of mind because of the compassion and love that a married couple shares.

Also, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) promoted marriage as a way to fulfill one's faith in the other half. He said, “O young people, whoever among you can afford to get married, let him do so, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity. Whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.” (Bukhari)

Islam sees marriage as a means of preserving virginity and safeguarding against immoral behavior. It is also a way to create a family that is built on love, respect, and support for one another, as well as a way to accomplish mutual love and friendship. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.” (Tirmidhi)

Marriage is also viewed as a means to procreate and establish a family. The Quran states, “And Allah has made for you mates from your selves, and made for you, from your mates, sons, and grandsons, and provided for you good things. Will they then believe in falsehood and deny the favors of Allah?” (Quran 16:72) This verse emphasizes the importance of procreation and the establishment of a family as a means of fulfilling one’s duties to Allah.

Islam acknowledges the value of mutual understanding and communication in marriage. The Quran states, “And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that he may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.” (Quran 30:21) This verse highlights how crucial love, forgiveness, and open communication between partners are to a happy and contented marriage.

The Islamic concept of "mahr," or dowry, is another significant part of marriage. As a token of his devotion and duty to his spouse, the husband presents his wife with the mahr when they first get married. Before getting married, the couple decides on the amount of the mahr, which can be any kind of precious item, money, or property. The wife's mahr is her only possession, and it cannot be taken from her without her permission. Marriage is also seen in Islam as a way to strengthen bonds between families and communities. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half.” (Bukhari) This hadith highlights the value of marriage within the framework of the larger community and the obligation of individuals to carry out their duties to their families and the community at large.

Islam acknowledges the significance of selecting a compatible partner based on shared moral principles, beliefs, and personal traits. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, her status, her beauty, and her religion. So choose the religious woman, and you will prosper.” (Muslim) This hadith emphasizes how crucial it is to select a spouse based on their morality and religious beliefs rather than on flimsy or superficial considerations.

In Islam, marriage is highly valued and significant. It is seen as a holy connection between a man and a woman and a way to experience the kindness and compassion that exist between spouses in order to find serenity, love, and calm. Islam acknowledges the benefits of forgiveness, understanding, communication, and compassion in marriages, as well as the necessity of selecting a compatible partner based on shared moral principles and personal qualities. In Islam, marriage is also seen as a way to create a family, have children, and carry out one's obligations to society and Allah. In the end, Islam views marriage as a way to live a life that pleases Allah and to achieve spiritual, emotional, and physical contentment.

Islam urges partners to attend to each other's emotional, spiritual, and bodily needs. "I am the best of you to my family, and the best of you is the one who is best to his family," stated the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). (Tirmidhi) This hadith places a strong emphasis on the value of upholding one's obligations to one's family, which include meeting their material and emotional needs, spending quality time with them, and helping them through trying times.

In conclusion, Islam places a great deal of significance on marriage and sees it as a way for spouses to show one another mercy and compassion in order to achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual fulfillment. Islam acknowledges the benefits of mutual respect, communication, understanding, forgiveness, and compassion in marriages, as well as the necessity of selecting a compatible partner based on shared moral principles and personal qualities. Islam also emphasizes the value of helping one another's spiritual and personal development as well as upholding one's obligations to one's spouse. Divorce is seen as a last resort and is only allowed in certain situations. Couples going through the process are given support and guidance.

In the end, marriage in Islam is a way to live a life that pleases Allah and to receive His blessings. Islamic teaching makes our entire community strong, prosperous, and compassionate. In my opinion, marriage is the most beautiful, comfortable, respected, honorable, justified, caring, sharing, trustworthy, forgiving, and loving union there is.
