Let’s face it, spending time in the kitchen can be a chore. But not with the right preparations! No matter if you are an amateur or a professional, we have some tools and tricks to keep you at the height of all that is kitchen fashion - if that’s a thing.

Time to get down to business and cook up a storm with this simple recipe:

Ambiance Is Key

Now, if you’re in your at-home kitchen, there are a few key elements that get the kitchen ready for work.

Lights, music, action!

Proper and adequate lighting in the kitchen makes your workspace ready for shrimp deveining, garlic chopping, and all kinds of ingredient adding. Ensure there is plenty of brightness for all of your recipe-making activities, and beyond.

Once you’re finished with the meal prep, transition to a warmer mood light to sit down, relax, and enjoy.

LED rope lighting can be a great addition for added under-counter lighting. Drop lights and track lighting are also great additions to keep your kitchen looking its best.

Don’t forget to add in the music. Cooking is an art and nothing inspires like great music. Pop on your favorite playlist with a BlueTooth speaker. Inspiring artists think alike so be sure to get as creative with your music choice as you do with your main courses.

Dress The Part

Do you have to wear crocs in the kitchen? Not exactly, but comfortable footwear is a great suggestion. Support your feet with good shoes or a kitchen mat to make standing less stressful.

You can even add in a chef’s coat or apron. A chef’s coat is the fashion standard of kitchen wear. For the serious at-home chef, a chef’s coat will elevate your attention and set your standards a bar above. Pair your favorite chef’s coat with comfortable pants, dress, or a skirt and get to work!

A chef’s apron is another staple of kitchen fashion. Keeping an apron hung in arms reach of the stove will keep you moving with flair (and without stains). A bistro apron (a half apron) is an alternative to the standard full apron and another great choice in kitchen fashion.

Our favorite modern fabric choices include cotton canvas and chambray denim. You can customize your kitchen looks to elevate your amateur status up a notch.

Keep Your Equipment Updated

Viking stove? Calphalon pans? Nice cutting boards? De Longhi Espresso machine? Vitamix?

We all need goals. And why not start with your kitchen? Just in-case you don’t have all of your must-haves in place, don’t fret. Keep producing with what you have and make an effort to upgrade as you can.

Having all of the necessaries in place will keep you cooking with plenty of panache. There are plenty of cookware lines that are geared towards fashionable meal prep. Customize your cookware to go along with your unique style whether it's modern, vintage, traditional, or eclectic.

Having a matching set of high-end appliances will make kitchen prep all the more enjoyable. Throw in a wine fridge for good measure and taste.

Venture Outside

Keep your meal preparation exciting by extending your workspace outside. The winter months can sometimes be too cold for grilling, but there are some crisp sunny days even in cold climates that make for a nice change of scenery.

Having a charcoal or gas grill can make your mealtimes a bit more exciting. Say goodbye to the monotony of your stove and hello to the sounds of birds chirping and cars honking. Fresh air and grilling recipes go hand in hand.

Extend your outdoor cookery options even further with a smoker or outdoor propane burner. Bring your seafood boil dreams to fruition. If you are feeling super ambitious spring for a clambake!

Be creative and carry some of your cooking activities outside for a change.

Experiment With New Tastes

Don’t forget the flavor when it comes to staying fashionable in the kitchen.

Expand your horizons and add a new skill or cuisine to your repertoire. Encourage healthy diets and experiment with farm-to-table or other organic options. Add in more fruits and vegetables and even spring for cold-pressed juice.

We’re not saying go full Hell’s Kitchen - but you can. With today’s online course options, you can learn from the best in class. Take a little time to concentrate on your cooking skills and choose a course to make you the best chef, baker, sommelier, or mixologist on the block!

Cooking and entertaining require time and effort, so make the most of your time by harnessing your inner sense of kitchen style and get creative. Throw on the classical masterpiece indie mix, button up your chef coat, and get busy!

Try a new cuisine and add to your repertoire of dishes. Venture outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.

Collect your favorite gadgets and nourish the heart and soul with your modern kitchen style.
