Why did I choose vegan?

What are my intentions

Making the decision to transition to a vegan diet can be a life-changing experience. For many people, it’s a decision that is driven by concerns about animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and personal health. However, the journey to eating only vegan can be challenging and may require a significant shift in one’s dietary habits. In this blog post, I will share my personal experience of how I found my way to eat only vegan and some of the things that helped me along the way.

My journey to eating only vegan started with my concerns about animal welfare. I had always been an animal lover, but I had never really thought much about where my food came from. However, after watching a documentary about factory farming, I became more aware of the inhumane treatment of animals in the food industry. I realized that I didn't want to contribute to that system anymore.

At first, I didn't know much about veganism, so I started doing some research. I read books, watched videos, and followed vegan bloggers on social media. The more I learned, the more I realized that veganism was about more than just animal welfare. It was also about environmental sustainability and personal health.

One of the things that helped me transition to a vegan diet was to take it slow. I didn't want to overwhelm myself by cutting out all animal products overnight. Instead, I started by eliminating one animal product at a time. I started by giving up red meat, then chicken, then fish, and finally dairy and eggs.

Another thing that helped me was to experiment with vegan recipes. I found that there were so many delicious vegan recipes out there, and I never felt like I was missing out on anything. I tried new foods and flavors that I never would have tried before. It was like a whole new culinary world had opened up to me.

One of the challenges that I faced when transitioning to a vegan diet was eating out at restaurants. I found that many restaurants didn't have many vegan options, and the ones that did often felt like an afterthought. However, I soon learned that many restaurants are willing to make vegan substitutions if you ask. I started doing research before going out to eat, and I would call ahead to ask about their vegan options. This helped me to feel more confident about eating out.

Another challenge that I faced was dealing with social situations. When I first transitioned to a vegan diet, I felt like I was constantly explaining myself to others. Some people were supportive, while others were critical or dismissive. However, I soon learned that it was important to stand firm in my convictions and not let others' opinions sway me. I also learned that it was important to be prepared for social situations by bringing my own food or snacks if necessary.

This cookbook recipe helped me a lot dealing with this period.

One of the things that I love about being vegan is how much better I feel. I have more energy, my skin is clearer, and I don't feel weighed down by heavy animal products. I also love how much money I save on groceries. Contrary to popular belief, eating vegan doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, many vegan staples like rice, beans, and vegetables are very affordable.

Another thing that I appreciate about being vegan is the positive impact that it has on the environment. Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of deforestation, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. By eating vegan, I feel like I'm doing my part to help protect the planet for future generations.

In conclusion, transitioning to a vegan diet can be a challenging but rewarding experience. It requires a willingness to learn, experiment, and be patient with oneself. The more I learned about veganism, the more I realized that it aligned with my values and beliefs. I'm grateful for the positive impact that it has had on my life and the lives of animals
