The look and style of your home is a personal statement that shows who you are. The way that you decorate can allow you to add unique touches and splashes of color to showcase your quirky choices or highlight the simple elegance that you’re known for. Decorating your home can be fun and fulfilling. It's exciting to choose each design element and make the room your own.

One of the often overlooked rooms in the home, when it comes to individuality, is the kitchen. The kitchen is usually seen as a functional space. And while you most likely have bits of your personality showing up here as well, it can seem difficult to make the space truly yours beyond choosing a style. Are you more minimalist or do you prefer a rustic look? But, you don’t have to stop here when it comes to personalizing your kitchen. A general style for a room can often seem generic and boring. Make it more interesting by putting some more thought into how you want your kitchen to look.

Because this room usually has a large number of cabinets for storage, the pantry and cupboard doors are a perfect way to add a little of yourself to the room. The most common type of kitchen cabinet and pantry doors are usually wood that has been stained or painted. While these can be beautiful, and are done in many different finishes and colors, it may be time for an upgrade. Especially in older homes, wooden cabinets can start to look boring and outdated. Why not consider some glass doors to make a statement?

Glass

Glass pantry doors are beautiful and functional. You can opt for plain glass. This gives a traditional, uniform look. Glass cabinet doors let you easily see what’s inside each cabinet for easy selection of the appropriate items. It’s also a great option if you have some unique and pretty dishes or pans that you want to show off. These types of doors are excellent for displaying your prize items because they allow light to showcase them while keeping them protected from dust and dirt. Glass doors go with any style and you can frequently change up the rest of the room without needing to redo your cabinets to make them match. They will complement any color scheme and furniture type.

Glass cabinet doors are also a breeze to clean. They don't require any expensive cleaners, and you don't run the risk of destroying a paint finish or chipping the wood.

Frosted

Another type of glass door to consider is the frosted door. Frosted glass is created by etching or sandblasting. The glass surface is pitted from the abrasion. You can still see through the glass, but the image is blurry and distorted. Frosted glass is often used as a type of privacy element in outside doors, windows, and even shower doors. But frosted glass isn't just functional. It can create a bold, attractive look.

Frosted glass doors are visually appealing and add a great element to any kitchen. You can go with a solid frosted glass, or even choose a pattern or theme that you love. Choose from a geometric pattern, a favorite image or relevant theme like foods and kitchen tools, or even lettering. The options are endless. Some manufacturers and distributors will even allow you to personalize the image you select, so you can truly make it your own. Maybe you have a favorite saying, or a design that you love. Wouldn't it be great to have that be part of your kitchen?

Colored or Textured

You may even want to take your glass doors a step further by incorporating some color. You can do a full stained glass design, or add an accent border of stained glass around the outside edge, or to emphasize the design that you chose. A few pops of color in your glass doors make them even prettier. A little goes a long way, so it's not necessary to do full color on all your doors. An accent door that's made of stained glass and strategically placed, or a few, more subtle touches in each cabinet will do the trick.

Texture is another element that can be incorporated with a glass door. Instead of the frosted look, you may prefer texture to add interest to your cabinet doors. Ripples, stripes, and patterns all have a pleasant look. You get a new and fun look that is subtle, and still easily adapted to work with the overall style of your kitchen.

The kitchen is one of the main gathering places in most homes. So you want this space to be comfortable and special. Glass doors can be a wonderful way to give your kitchen a new look. They are a conversation starter and you may find yourself gaining many compliments from your bold new design.
