Have you ever heard a female friend complain that the guy she met was good looking, smart, funny and kind, yet that wasn't enough to hold her interest and charm her?

My guess is you've heard these words – and they strike fear and uncertainty in your heart.

These days, the concept of masculinity and being a manly man is getting more and more attention. Then you type 'how to be more manly' in YouTube and hundreds of videos are suggested. Some are offering hai for how to speak with a more masculine tone. Others are offering ways to look more manly and have a more manly face.

From my experience working as a coach to men in sex, dating, and relationships, these things can help, but they won't make a huge impact. A guy with a six-pack and huge muscles can still come across as feminine. It's not dissimilar to the way a beautiful woman with sexy curves and a delicate voice can make a man feel manly.

In my experience, in order for women to see you as a more masculine man, you need to work on developing and enhancing your masculine energy.

There is much more to your energetic impression than how you dress, the size of your muscles, or how deep your voice is. This is your taste, your essence, a figurative taste that you leave in the mouth of a woman after a conversation with her. Your masculine energy is your ultimate weapon when it comes to relationships and finding love.

Modern society has singled out masculinity as a problem and this has led to nice guy syndrome, intimacy issues, and depression. Indeed, looking for embodied masculinity has become like finding a unicorn.

However, we can commit to practices that will allow us to quickly reclaim our masculine essence which you will learn about in the next section.

Posture

The way you carry yourself reflects your attitude; Remember that most communication is unspoken.

Did you know that standing in the superman position with your hands on your hips for 2 minutes can increase testosterone by up to 20 percent.

So stand straight with your shoulders back and your chest open. Walk with purpose, wear clothes that fit you, and look people straight in the eye.

It sends subliminal signals that your confident, calm and secure which will make you act differently when you are closed and small.

Be assertive and stand up for yourself

It's not about being aggressive and confrontational. You need to know that your opinions and needs are just as valid as anyone else's.

Do you feel like your boundaries are regularly being crossed or disrespected? It's about respecting yourself and speaking up when you feel something is off rather than shutting everything down to keep the peace. Practice doing this even though you know it will feel uncomfortable. It'll be worth it in the long run.

Find an advisor

Find a person who embodies the qualities you admire and draw close to them. Maybe they are already in your close circle or in your family. If they are not, however, the Internet has made it very easy to find these men. For me, I think of Dwayne Johnson, Elliott Hulse, Mooji. There are other retreats or workshops that you can attend and through them you can meet peers on a similar journey as you.

The objective is to learn from them and ultimately express your form of the powerful masculinity.

Stop masturbating

This will allow the sexual masculine energy within you to build up and channel into more fulfilling areas of your life. The problem with this is that you are connecting your brain to instant gratification and draining the life force inside of you.

The results can be profound, from more drive, testosterone, assertiveness, needing less sleep, and becoming more creative.

Calmness

One of the most manly things you can ever do is stand still. Practice meditation where you are not moving and completely connected to your place. This is especially important if you are someone who is always on the run.

Spend time with other men

It is very important in cultivating our masculine energy. Something amazing happens and your own essence comes alive again. I went to Elliott Hulse's grounding camp this year with about 150 other men and for that reason it was a great experience. I highly recommend that every man attend an all men's retreat at least once a year.

Tap into your inner warrior

Work on your strength at the gym or take a martial arts or boxing class.

This is one of the easiest ways to get the masculine energy flowing through you and at the same time make you feel more comfortable in your environment. It will also increase your testosterone, release stress, give you an endorphin rush and make you better in bed ;).

Lead

It will affect every area of your life; Bringing more certainty to your environment and relationships. It is an indicator of ability, clarity and courage and instills confidence. Take Radical Responsibility

You must be the master of your life, your actions, your happiness, your mind. Don't let the victim creep into your consciousness because it makes you feel powerless. This level of accountability is the only way you can become the man you want to be.

Initiator

Masculinity is the initiator and giver in all areas of life, including sex. A powerful person is generous because he is so secure in himself and has so much to give.

By facing your fear of allowing mistakes, you must move forward towards your goals. Being inactive and lazy will kill that energy in you.

Encourage

If you are always worrying, doubting or warning people against doing things and moving on then you are suppressing your masculine core.

You should encourage them to face their fears and let them learn from their mistakes instead of trying to 'save' them every time.

It is one of the most powerful expressions of manly love.

Explore Your Relationship With Your Father

Many men have a resistance to their fathers and that means that you have a resistance to that same masculine essence within you. This could mean that you adopted more feminine qualities because you didn't have a good relationship with the masculine in your home. I can definitely relate to this myself. Fixing your relationship with your father will go a long way in bringing that masculine energy back into harmony. It may seem difficult but that doesn't mean you have to reconnect with him. This can come in the form of journaling, figuring out what a great father would look like to you, forgiving him for all of his shortcomings, and teaching you to appreciate what he does.
