Home made lotion

Christmas is only days away!

Are you struggling to find cute gifts for loved ones? How about give them a home made gift for Christmas! Like hand lotion. It’s all quick and simple and all your equipment can be found in your standard kitchen.

The ingredients you’ll need are cheap to come by and extremely easy to work with.

What You’ll Need

  1. One large mixing bowl to mix all your ingredients
  2. One silicon spatula (if you don’t Have one don’t worry it’s not a problem a simple spoon will do)
  3. Measuring cups (this is an easier measurement)
  4. One empty squeeze tube or empty plastic tub

Ingredients

  1. Aloe Vera gel (can be found in most drug stores)
  2. Sweet almond oil (can be found in most herbal shops)
  3. Vitamin E oil ( can be found in herbal shops)
  4. Essential oils of your own choice; I like lemon, rose and eucalyptus

Once you have all of these it’s smooth sailing from here! Make sure you have checked everyone allergies before hand to, all my recipes are natural but you always have to be careful. Better safe then sorry.

Now step by step.

Step 1

Add three cups of aloe Vera gel to your bowl this will make up a 50ml tube of hand lotion.

Step 2

Add 1 1/2 table spoons of sweet almond oil into your aloe Vera gel. (Sweet almond oil is a smooth oil and is the less greasy of oils but you can use another carrier oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil.)

Step 3

Add one table spoon of vitamin E oil to your mixture. (This is completely optional but is amazing for your skin it can help with repairing skin with scars and stretch marks or just give the skin it’s bounce again.)

Step 4

Begin to mix together all your ingredients and you will notice it’s turned from a clear liquid to a smooth white mixture this is a good thing! Once it’s all mixed throughly you can add your essential oils in.

(Be sure to add 20-30 drops max to your mixture, your oil of choice can be very potent or weak to the carrier oils so add and mix five drops at a time.)

Step 5

Once all your oils are blended and it smells incredible! You can add in a colouring if you prefer giving your gift vibrancy or just a subtle tone be sure to use food grade colouring and small amounts.

If you choose to keep it natural then scoop all your mixture into a piping set and slowly squeeze your mixture into the tube or tub (be sure to leave a small gap between your piping set and the edge of the tube for hair to escape).

Step 6

Once that’s all done and the lid is on your all set! Add any wrapping or decoration to your tube if you wish to give your gift some fun!

I hope you enjoy making this as much as I do! It’s a brilliant way to give gifts to loved ones who love all kinds of lotions and potions and because it’s hand made it makes it all the more special!
