Your best bet on a successful side hustle is the wants and needs of other people.

We’re used to looking for side hustles everywhere, going crazy when we can’t find a good idea. When it’s actually way easier than you think: most of the best side-hustle ideas are in our backyard, in a neighbor’s house, or in a friend’s closet.

The best side hustles in the world start and have always started with identifying a need and helping someone fulfill it.

If you start this way, the ideas are endless. And to prove it, check out the first part of this article, which discusses 10 more ideas that help people and eventually turn into a profitable side hustle.

1. Help people shop for clothes

Dressing well is always a problem, especially for people who don’t naturally have an eye for color or design.

I remember helping a friend choose appropriate and flattering clothing. She was drawn to everything khaki, olive, and drab. It made her skin look like she was just about to pass out. When she pulled out the 3rd khaki-colored shirt I told her: ‘Please put that down, that’s the color of depression.’

She laughed, thanked me and the following week gave me a substantial gift card to my favorite clothing store.

It was just a nice gesture, but if you’re good at something and you do it enough there will come a time when you get paid for it.

2. Cook a few extra meals and sell them

If you’re a good cook, why not make a few extra portions and bring them to work for your colleagues? See how they like them and this way you can also launch the idea that you’d love to cook for everybody, but they’ll have to pay you, wink wink. Don’t be surprised if it actually catches on.

Another thing you can do is meal prep for somebody for the whole week. It only takes 2 or 3 hours every Sunday. You get the money and they have the food for the whole week.

3. Write a resume

One of the most annoying tasks any human on this planet has done is writing a resume. Nobody knows exactly what to write there, especially since it’s something that’s going to be under scrutiny by companies that have to accept you based on those words.

It’s easier to do it when it’s not about you, though. So offer to help a friend in need.

If you write a few lines on Facebook, Linked In, or your social media of choice about how you helped your friend X with his resume, expect DMs asking you to do the same for others.

4. Knitting

If you’re one of those people who find knitting relaxing, you’re in luck. People will always buy clothes and they love the idea of homemade, especially if’s something you don’t find in every store.

Clothes prices have gone way up. All you have to do is choose a few fashionable models and turn your hobby into a profitable side hustle.

5. Help with homework

Are you good with Math? Some parents aren’t. This is your chance to help their child with homework and take a weight off the parent’s back.

There’s nothing sadder than a poor overworked mom coming home to help a child with homework that she knows nothing about.

6. Homemade clean beauty products

Making natural beauty products at home is a great way to avoid harsh chemicals and save money. And it can also be a great way to help your friends and family avoid harsh chemicals and as a result, you can make some money for yourself.

There are many recipes for homemade beauty products available online, and most of them use simple, easily accessible ingredients. For example, a simple recipe for a homemade face wash can be made with just water, castile soap, and tea tree oil.

By making your own natural beauty products, you can customize them to your client’s needs. Each client need! Who wouldn’t want a face cream specially designed for her own skin? It doesn’t get more personal than that!

7. Special foods

Do you have special dietary needs? So do a lot of people. Isn’t it better if you join forces and bake some extra gluten-free bread for a few more people?

It’s so difficult to find good quality gluten-free bread that doesn’t cost astronomical prices. A lot of people will be so grateful if you offer them a taste of what life could be like if they didn’t have a gluten sensitivity.

You can use this idea for a lot of dietary needs and health items that are better when made in the house. Think gluten-free bread, homemade kombucha, vegan cheeses, etc. Add to all these various recipes that could cater to individual allergies.

For example, if someone is vegan (or dairy intolerant) but also has a nut allergy, you can be sure it’s not so easy to find what they’re looking for.

8. Help a small business with SEO

Do you see your friend’s small business struggling with getting its products on the map? Do you happen to know a lot about SEO? Or maybe just a little bit, but still more than your friend?

Why not lend a helping hand? For sure the effort will be appreciated and when the business grows thanks to your quality content and smart strategy, your friend will tell others.

Or you can tell them yourself. That’s how help goes from one person to the next and eventually into your pocket.

9. Give tours of your city

If you’re ever in the mood to take a walk and show people around your city, there’s no better way to do it than by giving a tour!

If you think only tourists need city tours, you’re wrong!

I took a guided tour of my own city 2 weeks ago and I was shocked at how little I actually knew about its history and architecture. Mind you, I’ve been living here for 30 years!

Just be sure to know your city well, and have plenty of stories and facts to share. You can even tailor your tour to fit the interests of your friends, neighbors, and acquaintances.

Whether they’re history buffs, art lovers, or just looking for a good walk, you’ll be sure to give them a unique experience they won’t forget.

10. Teach a language you know

If you know a foreign language, teach it to others! Adults can use it to get a better job or to get a promotion at work, children can use it to help with school and the elderly as a fun pastime and a great way to keep their brains young.

This can include teaching the alphabet, how to say common phrases, or even how to read and write in the language. You can do this through online tutorials, videos, or even personal lessons.

The part where people have the most trouble is with speaking. But that be easily solved if you base your lessons on a lot of speaking and dialogue.

Conclusion:

If you want to find a side hustle that is both interesting and fulfilling, consider helping others. Everybody needs help!

Whether it’s through tutoring, writing, or cooking, there are plenty of ways to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

What’s more, this type of work can be extremely rewarding — both financially and emotionally. So what are you waiting for? Start helping people today!
