Ice breakers are a great way to make a virtual meeting feel energetic and productive. Fun games with little at stake makes people feel welcomed and prepares people for a meeting that is worth their time. Like most people you have probably been working from home a lot and or have been having more virtual meetings over the past year and a half. Here are 5 ice breakers that you can use make sure the vibe is right during a meeting.

1. 2 Truths and A Lie

2 truths and a lie is a fun and classic game. It is super simple to implement and requires little preparation time. But did you know that the subject can vary significantly and change the educational factor of the game? Here are a few ways to make this fun game educational.

How to play:

Write down two truths and one lie about yourself/your company/brand/initiative/problem you are tying to solve. Once you have chosen the topic people will be writing about, you can explain the rules and give people a few minutes to write down two truths and a lie about the subject. Once people are done writing go around the group and give each person the floor for a few minutes to tell people their truths and one lie. Then allow a few minutes for people to guess the lie.

This is a great way to get to know a person or subject matter. The subject matter experts will surely come to the surface with this game.

2. Quick Questions

Quick questions is a fun game that allows people to get to know each other by answering questions quickly. This is a list of questions that I recommend using for your questions. There are 51 questions, which should be plenty for a virtual meeting.

How to play:

Have meeting attendees choose a number from 1 to 51 and they have to answer the question of the number they choose. The meeting host should read the questions out loud and give each person 5-10 seconds to answer the question.

The game is fun and will give participants a chance to get to know each other. It also doesn’t take up a lot of time, so it’s great for short meetings and for meetings with a lot on the agenda.

3. Talk About Your Favorite Netflix Movie/Show

Who doesn’t love Netflix? Talking about your favorite show or movie is a great ice breaker because everyone is always looking for an opportunity to find a great Netflix show or movie.

How to play:

Go around the group and have everyone say their favorite Netflix show or movie. Tell them to explain why they watch it and describe the genre and the plot.

It’s a fun and straight forward game that will allow people to get to know each other’s preferences and interests.

4. Solve A Riddle

Solving riddles is great for thinkers and analyzers. This is a great way to prepare for a meeting of brainstorming and problem solving. This is a fun site that I recommend using for riddles. They have options for kids and adults.

How to play:

Pose a riddle to the group and give participants a set time to collectively or individually come up with a solution. Since you will already have the answer you can tell the participants if their answer is correct.

The riddles are funny and creative. This game is a great way to get the brain working and to foster a sense of community.

5. Sell It

Sell it is a fun and interactive game. It is a great way to see meeting participants creative skills and it doesn’t take a lot of preparation time to implement.

How to play:

Have everyone in the meeting choose an item that is on their desk. Don’t tell them why initially. Once everyone chooses the item have them go around sell the item to the group. Give the participants a set time to give their speech about how the product can benefit a customer and why meeting participants should buy it. Then ask the group if anyone would buy it. The person with the most customers wins the pitch contest.

It’s a fun game that doesn’t take a lot of preparation time. It’s great for expressions and bring creative juices to the surface.

These 5 ice breakers will ensure that your meeting is fun and interactive. Attendees will be able to get to know each other, prepare for an hour or so of productivity, and feel like their time is well spent.
