Today I want to discuss a subject that is near and dear to my heart: chainmaille. Those of you who found me through writing may not realize that my primary occupation is actually that of a chainmaille artisan. I don’t create combat ready armor (but I hope to add that to my list one day), but instead focus on beauty and costume. I love the colors and the possibilities. I thrill at seeing a pile of rings become something beautiful and unique.

Greetings, Vocal readers. It’s been a while since I’ve done a perler bead DIY. The last one I’ve done was the Nintendo logo, which was about a month ago. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ll post a link to it at the end of this article. In this article, I’ll show you how to make this rider that you see above from Excitebike. This game made its debut on the Famicom in 1984 and as a launch title for the NES a year later. When I first played it on the NES Classic a couple of years ago, it wasn’t like any of the other racing games that I was used to playing. Every time I would jump over a ramp, I would fall off my bike. So long story short, I placed 23rd in a race and haven’t played that game since. Hopefully I’ll play it again someday and improve.
Halloween is just around the corner and if you’re planning on making your costume rather than buying it, you should have started working on it weeks ago. However, we all lead busy lives and have other things to do besides making a Halloween costume, so here are instead some costumes for both kids and adults you can DIY last-minute or simply in an hour on a free evening leading up to the holiday.
Originally, you didn't have plans for any October fun this year. It was going to be a quiet month of making hot cocoa and binge-watching your favorite series. Then one day you get off work to find a message from a friend inviting you to a Halloween party that night. You're excited to actually have a Halloween-related plan and make the most of this month until you realize... it's too late to go out and get a costume! Or you do, but there's barely any left to choose from.
Soon enough Christmas will be upon us. Which, for me, means lots of Christmas book reading and Christmas crafts with the little one. Over the last few years we have gathered a selection of Christmas books for our Book Advent and gained lots of Christmas crafts for our activity Advent. Reading and creating every day up until Christmas makes us feel extra Christmasy and we wanted to share our books and activities with you so that you can join in on the fun.
I know it seems early, but everyone needs time to prepare.
Woodworkers are definitely wood artists! They have the tendency to create unique and accurate pieces of furniture or valuables from a very natural and raw resource. It is not only an act of amazement, but also a pretty difficult task to accomplish. A woodworker has to be very precise and perfect in her/his work to produce perfect pieces of finished wooden goods.
