As your moving day approaches, you are anxious to wind up your home and pack everything! You definitely want this task to be done and dusted as fast as you can. And in order to stack and pack everything conveniently, you pick up the most common cases of boxes available with you. Well, these are mostly the plastic or the cardboard boxes. But which one is the best for you? This dilemma often slows down your efforts while packing for the new house.

Plastic Boxes V/Cardboard Ones – Which Are the Best?

Though there are some people who even use their suitcases or travel bags to put their stuff in while packing, the most widely used containers are cardboard boxes for removals. SpringAll Movers not only offers varieties of boxes, but also provides a complete solution to packing your stuff while you are moving and even helps you in the task along with providing storage for the items. But we have heard that plastic boxes are used largely for this purpose too. So, let’s compare both of these storage options:

1. The Matter of Availability — We know plastic boxes are available everywhere, but those required for your packing may not be commonly seen. While the cardboard boxes can be found in any shop (both online and offline), and some even rent you the cardboard boxes. Especially the removal companies have them in all sizes and deliver them at your doorstep and collect it later from your new location.

2. The Ease of Packing — With plastic boxes, you don’t have to assemble them and just need to put on their lid and your work is done! But with cardboard boxes, you are required to properly assemble them with the help of tapes. And if it's the rainy season, you even have to plastic wrap the entire box after packing it (which isn’t the case with the plastic containers).

3. Storage and Stacking — Say, you finished your unpacking, then what about these boxes? How will you store them? The plastic boxes are pretty difficult to stack and can’t even be compressed. Which means you will have to use up a lot of space in your new home for the plastic boxes that you bought for packing. While cardboard boxes are super compact and can be folded and kept anywhere. But beware! The cardboard boxes that are stored for a very long time can attract lots of roaches and other insects, especially if they come in contact with moisture. Plastic doesn’t have any such issues even if you store them in humid areas for years.

4. The Variables in the Boxes — Where variety is concerned, you can only get a handful of sizes and shapes when it comes to plastic boxes. But cardboard boxes that are especially made for packing have been customised for packing your blazers, blankets, bedsheets, pillows, books, bottles, etc. So, ensure that you pack in the most organised and efficient way with cardboard boxes.

5. Environmental Consideration — Cardboard boxes are reusable, especially the ones that you rent for packing and moving and then return them to the company for further use. But even if you aren’t reusing them, cardboard boxes can easily get decomposed and don’t tax the environment. Plastic is a long-lasting solution and can be reused. But you may be aware that plastic isn’t easily decomposed and harms the environment in this process. Although eco-friendly plastic materials are available recently, they still do harm the environment in some way or another.

When we compare both of these items as packing containers, they seem to be good in their own particular ways. But remember that experts always recommend cardboard boxes for packing and moving because they find them extremely light in weight to handle, can be stacked properly while transportation, and these provide maximum organisation and efficiency throughout the entire procedure.
