President Xi Jinping delivered his 2023 New Year's Address on New Year's Eve via the China Media Group and the Internet. The address is in its entirety as follows:

I'm happy to see you all. 2023 is quickly approaching. I send you all my very warmest New Year's greetings from Beijing.

We were successful in holding the Communist Party of China's 20th National Congress in 2022. (CPC). The moment has come for us to embark on a new adventure, and an ambitious plan has been developed for creating a modern socialist country in every way and furthering the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.

The Chinese economy has maintained its position as the second-largest in the world and has experienced steady growth. Over 120 trillion yuan in GDP is anticipated for the entire year. Despite a worldwide food crisis, we have managed to secure a large crop for the 19th consecutive year, strengthening our ability to guarantee the Chinese people's access to food. Our progress in eradicating poverty and advancing rural regeneration has been solidified on all fronts. We have reduced taxes, fees, and other burdens on businesses while actively working to address the most urgent issues that the public finds to be of great importance.

Since COVID-19 struck, we have always prioritised the wellbeing of the populace and human life. We have modified our COVID response in light of the changing scenario, using a science-based and focused strategy, to protect people's lives and health as much as possible. Public servants and members of the general public, especially doctors and other community workers, have valiantly maintained their positions throughout. We overcame previously unheard-of obstacles and hurdles with remarkable effort, but nobody's road has been simple. We have now moved into a new stage of the COVID reaction, which is still fraught with difficulties. The light of hope is right in front of us, and everyone is clinging on with great resolve. Let's put forth more effort.

Comrade Jiang Zemin passed away in 2022. We pay high tribute to his towering achievements and noble demeanor, and cherish the great legacy he left behind. We will honor his last wishes and advance the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

The great river of history rushes forward, wave after wave. We have brought China to where it is today by the steadfast efforts of successive generations.

China of today is a nation where dreams come true. The Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing came to a successful conclusion. Chinese athletes competing in winter sports gave it their all and produced amazing outcomes. Three Shenzhous—Shenzhou-13, Shenzhou-14, and Shenzhou 15—flew into the air. Our "home in space" is wandering in the deep blue sky, and China's space station has been constructed in full. The people's armed forces celebrated their 95th birthday, and all of its members are pushing boldly forward on the challenging task of fortifying their armed forces. Launched was China's third aircraft carrier, Fujian. The first large passenger aircraft from China, C918, has been delivered. And the hydroelectric facility in Baihetan began operating fully... Without the labour of the many Chinese people, none of these accomplishments would have been possible. hints of

China as it is today is a vibrant, energetic nation. In addition to the Hainan Free Trade Port and other pilot free trade zones, innovation is exploding in the coastal regions, development is accelerating in the central and western regions, the northeast is experiencing a resurgence, and the border regions are experiencing increased growth and prosperity. The Chinese economy has incredible vitality, tremendous potential, and exceptional resilience. Its long-term growth is supported by excellent fundamentals that have not changed. We will succeed in achieving our objectives as long as we maintain our confidence and work to advance while keeping things stable. Earlier this year, when I visited Hong Kong, I was incredibly happy to find that the city had brought back order and
