Causes of clogging the sink and drain pipes

Regardless of whether we are talking about sinks in the bathroom or kitchen, we have faced the problem of clogging them at least once in our lives.

The causes are well known, but many users prefer not to take precautions to get rid of such problems.

Sinks often clog up due to food or household waste irresponsibly thrown away by users. The kitchen produces a mixture of food debris, oil, and detergents that sticks to the drain pipes preventing the water from draining at a normal flow.

For many, the leak seems strong and large enough to withstand a few crumbs of bread, rice grains, or coffee grounds. This is not true. The amalgam of food scraps sticks together with the help of oily substances used in cooking and ends up damaging the sink and draining it.

In the bathroom, the sink is usually clogged with scraps of soap, toothpaste, or other cleaning products, plus hair resulting from activities such as shaving, combing.

It doesn't even matter if it's the kitchen sink or the bathroom sink; when it gets clogged, it spoils your fun. You can't wash your hands anymore, the dishes have to lie unwashed for a long time, the sink is getting dirtier and dirtier, and so on.

So that you never get annoyed when the sink gets clogged, here's how to unclog it, without getting out of your pajamas, with what you have in the kitchen.

How to unclog a sink with natural ingredients

First of all, it is good to know that a sink is generally clogged with tufts of hair that have reached the pipe (especially the one from the bathroom) and from food scraps and grease.

All this forms real impenetrable plugs, not even water, so they will give you big headaches. Ways to unclog stubborn sinks will not only cost you anything but will also protect your sinks since all commercial substances can slowly destroy them.

Boiled water, the oldest method of unclogging

The most convenient way to unclog a sink that gives you headaches is to boil a kettle of water. This old recipe from when the world (or since the sink appeared) is ideal for the kitchen because there the fat acts as a barrier to the passage of water.

However, try to pour water directly on the drain so that it does not affect the rest of the sink. If it doesn't work well with the first kettle, boil another one, so you can properly disinfect the pipe. You should also know that boiling water is more effective if you mix it with salt.

Vinegar, the enemy of clogged pipes

If the trick doesn't work with boiling water and you're too lazy to boil more water, quickly open the cupboard and look for vinegar. Mix it well with equal amounts of salt and baking soda, then add four times as much hot water.

Pour the miracle composition directly on the drain and wait a few minutes.

Lemon and baking soda removes the fat

At least that's what the old saying goes. If you don't have lemon, vinegar is an equally worthy substitute. You need a sachet of baking soda, which you pour directly into the sink, then half a cup of lemon juice (or vinegar).

Then let the ingredients work, being sure that you will unclog the sink without even leaving the house. However, although it is a very effective method, the above is possible to act faster, because salt intensifies the effects of the combination of baking soda and vinegar.

Cola does more than you think

Well, whether you know it or not, any cola drink can get rid of the fat on the sink. If you add some baking soda or vinegar, and then immediately pour a cup of boiled water, you will certainly not have to open the sink for a long time.

If the methods presented here do not work, you can take out the ultimate weapon: the snake (or a knotted wire) and try it. In general, it is harder in the bathroom sink, because there the leaks collect the fallen hair. But keep in mind that it is not advisable to start the installation yourself, to clean it.
