Has this ever happened to you? There are loud noises outside or your roommates are being really loud so you put your wireless pair of headphones in to sleep in peace. Ah, what a relief right? Wrong. You wake up the next morning with only one Airpod in your ear and the other one is nowhere to be found.

You rip your entire bed apart and look underneath, behind, and all around. You can’t find it. The anxiety runs through your body because they’re essential to you. You commute with these bad boys, exercise with them, and occasionally fall asleep with them in.

Luckily, you find the headphones and exhale with relief. Sound familiar?

Losing Headphones Became Routine

For the past three years I’ve committed to going wireless and using brands such as Bose, Beats, and Apple.

The longest I went without losing headphones was 4 months and that’s because I’m always on the go. For the active readers out there, I am going to tell you some tricks that will keep you from losing your precious babies.

Personally, headphones are an essential item for me. The moment I lose them and realize they are “gone gone”, I buy a new pair to replace them almost immediately.

There are many benefits to having wireless headphones. They allow you to connect quickly, take calls easily, and run without wires rubbing all over you. You spent your hard-earned money on them. Follow these tips and you don’t have to go through the stress of losing them ever again.

Use the Cases Your Headphones Come with

I cannot stress this one enough. Most wireless headphones on the market come with cases, and there’s a reason. They’re easy to misplace! When you’re done using them, don’t just throw em’ in the cupholder of your car or set them down on your desk. Headphones find a way to run away when you’re not looking as if they’re casted in a Toy Story movie.

Using the cases gives us peace of mind. If you lay one airpod in your pocket and another on your desk, the odds are that you’ll lose track of them and they’ll disappear into the abyss.

There’s not much to elaborate on with the headphone cases. Just use em’ and you won’t lose em’.

Have a Neat Sleeping Area

Referring back to the scenario about losing your headphones after a night of sleep, it pays to have a clean bed. A neat space and a clean bed makes it far easier for you to track your headphones down when they inevitably fall out of your ears during REM.

My Airpods case is always nearby. I rely on places either underneath my pillow or on the same spot on my nightstand every night.

Waking up from a quality nap where you ruffle all the blankets and pillows and sometimes end up with your feet at the headboard is always confusing to me, but at least I can spot my headphones easily.

I only have a maximum of two pillows in bed as well as one blanket and one comforter. I know some people who use seven pillows and four blankets every night. Is that you? It may be hard to find what you’re looking for that way!

Let’s not beat a dead horse. The neater your sleeping area, the easier it’ll be to recover your precious cargo.

Headphones are a Sign of Personal Isolation

If you’re like me, then investing in a quality pair of headphones is very important to you. Headphones are something most millenials utilize daily. We need something to give us that space away from the public. Music relaxes us and gives us peace of mind. If you see someone wearing headphones, then they most likely need personal space and it’s an informal rule to respect their bubble.

Be cautious about where you put em’ because if you don’t you could pay the price dearly. (Especially the way they’re priced nowadays). As you would take great care of your cell phone, take care of your headphones. They’re always there for you in times of need. Show your headphones you care about them and that they mean something to you.

My hope is for fewer people to need to buy replacement headphones all because of some trivial activities that they happened to lose them. Paying attention and taking precautions will prevent you from being that guy or gal at the gym who has to workout without headphones.
