How to overcome stress

Helpful ways to overcome stress

By Abby DaltonPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

I am a pretty bad stresser. I stress over the little things, big things, things I have no control over, and I even stress about things that haven’t even happen (and probably won’t happen). Over time I’ve come to realize that I needed to figure out ways to calm myself down when I’m in a stressful situation. So here are some of the things that I do that help me!

1. Slow Deep breaths: when you catch yourself starting to stress out, remember to slowly breathe. Gather yourself back together.

2. Take a walk: I know when your stressing out your first thought is not gonna be “Hey let me just walk it off.”. Although, I’ve found it very refreshing for myself. All it is, is that your giving your body and mind a moment to relax.

3.Have a buddy: Never hold something in until it builds up to the point you can’t take anymore. Always have somebody you trust to talk to. Vent to them and let it out.

4. Write it down: If you don’t have anyone to talk to or you don’t trust anyone with your situation, get a notebook and a pen and just write it down. Maybe even write down some ways you could calm yourself down in the future.

5.Pray:Praying to your higher power would take a lot of weight of your shoulders. you won’t have to worry about other people knowing your business, and your higher power will always lead you in the right direction.

If these don’t work for you try sitting down and thinking of things you do that calms you down. Example: listening to music, cooking, cleaning, drawing… or anything else.
