We keep telling ourselves that we need to get organized. But in our minds, this is a task that will take weeks, months, maybe even years, depending on how chaotic our lives might seem.

This is where we're wrong. It is more than possible to organize your life in one week, and we're here to prove it to you. We have come up with ten steps to take in order to transform your life.

Get enough sleep.

If you are depriving your body of sleep, how can you expect to be as productive as you want to be? First, on our list of the best ways to organize your life in one week is simple: sleep!

Have a desired time to be in bed, and stick to it. Be in bed by nine o'clock, and turn the light out by 9:30. Also, be sure to know when to put down your devices, and turn off the television.

A huge factor that messes with our sleep, make it a point to charge your phone across the room. This way, you have no temptation to check it during the middle of the night. And, you have to get up and out of bed to turn your alarm off. Just make sure you set your alarm, of course.

Have a morning ritual.

Scheduling your days is one of the best ways to organize your life in one week, and starting with a morning ritual will set the tone for the rest of your day, and the rest of your week. First, you need to give yourself plenty of time to get ready in the morning, so quit hitting that snooze button, no matter how great it might feel in the moment.

Next, once you get out of bed, have a routine that you will always start with. No matter what it might be, it should be something that you can look forward to. Go to your kitchen, make yourself a cup of tea, turn on the television. Whatever might make you feel alive and ready for the day, the better.

Take your time getting ready, and find confidence in your appearance. If you look good, you'll feel good. And finally, if you have a decent commute in the morning, find a podcast, playlist, or audiobook to listen to, this way this time in the car is not wasted.

Also, allow this time to beneficial to you by thinking and enjoying the time alone. You could even sing and smile and express yourself to your favorite song. Whatever makes you ready to tackle the day, make it a ritual.

Write things down.

If you feel as if you are constantly wracking your brain for important notes, things to get done, and just things you should be remembering, you need to begin writing things down more.

We've all been there, in the moment you are positive that you will remember to pick up bread at the grocery store. But by the time you get there, you have already had an entire day in your head, and completely forget.

This can also transfer over to work, relationships, and taking care of yourself. No matter how confident you might be in your memory, it can never hurt to have a backup. Make writing things down during the week a habit.

Organize your space by giving everything a home.

You can't organize your life without organizing your space. This covers your home, your room, your workspace, and your car, really any place that you are continuously in. If you have a cluttered living space, you will have a cluttered mind, whether you know it or not. Coming home to a freshly made bed and all of your dishes and laundry put away is indescribable for your mindset.

If you want to completely organize your spaces, you have to have a place for each of your items, everything! If you have a place for everything, your cleaning process will become 100 times easier and more fulfilling. If you don't have enough room for everything you own, you need to reevaluate why you are holding onto all of your belongings, especially clothes.

Schedule your entire week.

Sunday night should be your most productive night of the week. You've caught up on sleep, chores, and whatever else you needed to get done over the weekend, so now it's time to plan out the responsibilities of your week.

As one of the best ways to organize your life in one week, starting with a concrete plan is one of the best ways to keep on task. This can be as simple as taking one hour a week to make decisions, plan your priorities, and get a head start on the rest of your week.

This way, you won't leave all of your responsibilities to the end of the week. And, you will be able to scatter the work that needs to get done.

Get rid of junk.

To organize your life in one week, you have to be prepared to get rid of a bunch of things. If you are confident that you will be able to transform your life in a single week, there has to be sacrifice. So in order to get to where you want to be, getting rid of unwanted clothes, keepsakes, decor items, and just junk will be one of the most beneficial steps of your process to living a more organized life.

So start with your closet and grab some oversized garbage bags to start your decluttering process. A great way to feel better about getting rid of your belongings is to donate the things that would still work well in a new home. So what're you waiting for? There's a ton of things in your room right now that are taking up too much space.

Cut down on shopping.

You can get rid of as many things as you want, but if you continue bringing in junk to your home, your surroundings will always be too full and cluttered. As one of the best ways to organize your life, you need to practice restraining yourself from shopping. We know, it's hard, and though you might "need" that dress or that pillow, you shouldn't be bringing more things into your home than you are willing to get rid of.

Take advantage of your phone's alarm.

In order to keep yourself on track, take advantage of your phone's alarm. A device we know is constantly on your body, setting an alarm will take only a few seconds, and will keep you on track for the entire day, and week!

This can be for anything, to wake you up from a 15-minute power nap, keep you from spending too much time on emails, or simply reminding you to take out the trash. Take advantage of this simple tool, and you will watch as your life suddenly changes to be structured and easy to navigate. As one of the best ways to organize your life in one week, set as many alarms at you need.

Don't be afraid to say no.

To stop feeling overwhelmed, you have to exercise the word, "no." A person who is anxious, overwhelmed, and frustrated with the amount of things that have to be done in a day is typically the same person who doesn't know how to say no.

If it's not beneficial for you, or you really don't feel like staying out late, say no. Take time for yourself, even if you feel like you don't need it. It will be very apparent you do once you take a breather. You need balance in your life in order to stay organized.

Turn motivation into routine.

Finally, our last tip to organize your life in one week, is to stop relying on pure motivation. Motivation and self-discipline are not enough to keep yourself on track, especially when you are trying to organize your life in a single week. Instead, you have to rely on incorporating habits into your life.

This will take practice, of course, but making a point to go through your organizational routines each day will ultimately result in them turning into beneficial habits.
