How to heal from a heartbreak ?

It is one of the most painful things in the World to recover from a heartbreak but trust me one does. The pain of heartbreak is like no other pain as it is not a physical pain so it is hard to describe it or to explain it to somebody. It is also difficult because brain chemicals are involved which makes the pain of a heartbreak similar to that of leaving drugs like heroine as proven by many scientific studies.

The healing process

The healing process takes time take for example of a wound. Does it heal in a few minutes? No. The same applies to a broken heart. The wounded broken heart won't be mended in few minutes. But it will be healed as the wound will be healed.

When does the broken heart heal ?

It won't be healed in grand gestures like going to a concert. Yes, it will help rather than sobbing over the pain. But your heart will heal day by day, in moments we don't recognize. Your broken heart will be healed in small moments of day to day life. The pain will decrease and you will feel whole again.

How much time will it take ?

It may take 4 weeks or 4 months. The time a broken heart will heal is different for different people and different relationships. It can take 3 weeks for one person and 6 months for another person.

Things to do while your heart is healing

There is no hard and fast rule on acquiring habits that will help one through this agonizing journey of heartbreak. But following habits may help you get through it.

1. Walk or jogging on a daily basis

It is scientifically proven that walk or jogging is good for mental health. Hence it is a good idea to acquire this million dollar habit of walking or jogging daily. It will help you through the emotional crisis and it is a good habit to keep in the long run.

2. Reading

Another good habit to acquire is to read good books. This will be a good way to keep your mind busy and it is a good habit in the long run.

3. Treat yourself

Treat yourself by going for shopping or going for a concert or eat your favorite food. The point is to make yourself feel better when nothing feels like going your way.

4. Write a journal

As difficult it looks to open up about your feelings even to your own self. This is a very helpful way to help yourself in the healing process. Write a diary on daily basis. Just write down whatever you feel like saying.

5. Have a routine

Make a routine for yourself. Write it down and make a list of your routine. For example: 1. Walk 2. Reading 3. Writing journal.

The road to future

It feels like a long way to go and it will take time but it will be one of the most important time of your life when you will learn lessons. You will learn so much about yourself and others. You will start looking at life differently. And from this, a stronger you will arise. A you that will be looking at things with a fresh eye. Your surroundings will be the same, only you will start looking at them differently. And guess what ? One day it won't hut anymore. One day you will become whole. And one day you will be sharing your story with someone looking back and smiling. This mess of a heartbreak will end and will become a chapter of your past. But a very important learning experience.
