Keeping your razors clean will lengthen their life and maintain their aesthetics. All the characteristics and properties of each type of blade and tool of a multipurpose knife or pocket knife are adapted to their specific field of application.

Victorinox multipurpose knives usually have a number of pieces, and cleaning them can be a challenge, but there is nothing to fear, it is possible to do easily as follows.

Materials For Cleaning of Pocket Knives

When cleaning multipurpose knives and damascus pocket knives, always try to use rubber gloves to protect your skin from the edge. Gather the necessary materials. You will need certain supplies in order to clean a pocket knife.

Soap

For the initial wash use a mild dish detergent. The soap you use to wash dishes daily is probably fine. Just don't use a dishwashing soap that is meant to be used in a dishwasher as it is very strong on knives and can cause rust and other damage.

Lubricant

You will need some type of household lubricant to remove the oxidation. The WD-40 usually works well on pocket knives. You will also need household oil to lubricate the knife after washing. You should be able to find the oil and household lubricant in a hardware store.

You will need a soft sponge or a toothbrush for the initial wash.

Drying

To treat oxidation you will need a nylon pad. You will also need a clean, soft cloth to dry the knife when you finish cleaning it.

Cleaning Processes

Once the cleaning materials have been gathered, you must start by opening the pocket knife or unfolding all the pieces of the multipurpose knife completely. Some pocket knives, such as Swiss Army knives, make sure it is fully open so you can clean all the parts and not keep it somewhere.

Soap And Size

First remove the stains from the knife with a regular dish detergent and a sponge. Foam the sponge in warm soapy water and clean the knife blades. If you notice something is stuck, spray dish detergent directly on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then rub again. Finally, rinse with plenty of water.

Remove The Oxide From The Pocket Knife

If there is rust on the razor you should use WD 40 multipurpose lubricant. Spray it on all rusty parts and let the lubricant sit for 1 minute. Then take a fiber and rub the knife until the rust disappears. You may need an additional lubricant to remove the more adherent oxide. Once you're done, rinse the knife with clean water.

Dry And Apply Lubricating Oil

At the end of the basic wash and rust removal, dry the knife with a clean flannel or cloth. Then add a few drops of WD-40 lubricant to the blade of the pocket knife or knife, to the elbows, and to all parts of the utility knife. Rub with another dry cloth until the knife looks shiny and clean.

Sharpening of Damascus Bowie Knife

Resharpen both sides of the blade with a grinding stone at an angle of 15 - 20 °. A cutting angle of 30 - 40 ° is thus achieved. If a sharpening wheel is used, it must be cooled with enough water to avoid generating high temperatures.

Wavy edge: The blade should be resharpened with a whetstone on the flat side of the edge, at an angle of 15 - 20 °. Sharpening is faster and easier with the Damascus Bowie Knife and Knife Sharpener , which can be used for both straight and wavy edge blades.
