Not too many people remain untouched by confidence issues. Often, people are led to believe that they are not enough if they are not a certain size, busy, tan, pretty, or a certain number on the scales. What exactly is enough? How do we get enough of what society deems to be sufficient?

Do you lack confidence in who you are and how you look? Do you wish you could become more confident? Read on for simple yet effective ways to have a healthy self-image.

Know Yourself

Knowing yourself is the key to having a healthier self-image so you can be comfortable in your own skin. What causes you to doubt yourself? What situations make you feel insecure? What words spoken by others cause you to lose confidence?

Once you are aware of that which causes you to doubt yourself, you must counter that type of thinking. Self-affirmations can build confidence. Of course, you must continue the momentum by acting out of these affirmations.

Tell yourself that you are enough. You are beautiful just the way you are. Your body is beautiful. You have the same rights that everyone else has to be at any given social event. You can also remind yourself that no one has the right to control the way you feel about yourself.

Change Your Thinking

The way you think will impact your actions. If you want to become more confident and comfortable in who you are, you have to learn to think differently about yourself. Once again, self-affirmations build confidence. Speak positive affirmations when negative doubts try to flood through your mind.

Telling yourself that you are just as good as anyone else is good. Telling yourself that you have much to offer is another good affirmation. However, you have to learn to exude confidence even when you do not feel it. Walk confidently. Keep your head up. Smile and make eye contact with people.

Have Someone in Which You Can Confide

Everyone needs someone he or she can trust with their secrets. When you are feeling especially insecure, that's when you need a friend in which you can confide. Having someone you can speak to about insecurity will actually help you build confidence. An objective person can see what is causing your insecurity issues and help you make changes.

While you do not have to tell every detail of your life, everyone needs accountability in some way. Confiding in a friend releases the negative. When the friend shows you support, positive confidence is built.

Fake It 'Til You Make It

Until you feel confident, pretend you do. Walk with grace. When you enter a room, behave as if you have every right to be there. Why? Because you do.

Once you get used to pushing self-confidence, you will feel more naturally secure. You will no longer need self-affirmations and constant support from others. You will be confident on your own.

It is a truly confident person who is comfortable in his or her own skin. Those types of people will usually land the jobs or be attractive to someone else. Even if the attention of others does not appeal to you, self-confidence needs to be your priority.

Exude Confidence

Even if you are not looking for a particular job or role, being comfortable in your own skin will help you to enjoy the life you now have. You can live fully knowing that you are enough. You have what it takes to succeed. You can be happy whether you are married, single, or divorced. Your lot in life does not determine your confidence level. You do.
