Employment is one a burning subject for a long time now.

There are more unemployed youths than the vacancies for the job and the difference is too high.

There is a huge gap between the demand and availability as far as employment is concerned.

Finding a job is as difficult as finding a jewel in the sea.

If we speak about the potential of youth, it is amazingly great but at the cost of no or low earning.

Money is the only thing that cannot be faked and also nothing can move without money.

We all are trapped in a rat race for earning our bread and butter.

There is no time for family or social life as the job place has become our den and we work enormously.

In this hard time, getting a job and retaining it has become very important in order to feed our family.

We have to adjust ourselves to any situation that may arise and try to remain floating.

In such a scenario if one learns to enjoy the work it is comparatively easy to work longer.

In an attempt to be happy at the workplace one must ensure to know the work profile thoroughly.

A person can be happy at the workplace in case the work is of his/her liking and in case he/she has complete knowledge of work.

There are several things that might distract your concentration at work but one needs to overcome those hurdles wisely.

There are two supporting things that can make you happy at the workplace and that are your employer’s gratitude and another is the money you earn from your job.

If your employer is generous enough for his employees, they will be happy working for him and in contrast, if he is a dictator then fewer people will enjoy working.

The atmosphere at the workplace should be encouraging enough for the employees to work from the bottom of the heart.

If there are some additional activities occasionally, people can enjoy the workplace too.

Even without an employer, employees can create the happiness in the workplace.

Your passion for work or deep knowledge about it will help you make the workplace happier.

Here are some tips which can give you an idea of how to be motivated and productive at work and be happy for a long time –

1. A job which allows you free time outside

If you do not get a job where you can be happy but if it is allowing you free time when you can follow your hobbies, then it is quite possible that you will remain happy at work.

As the job provides you the cushion of free time to live the life your style or spend time with family and friends, you will enjoy working such place.

2. Take responsibility at work

Many employees prefer to take the backseat when it comes to taking ownership at the work.

This is a very common scenario at most workplaces and the employer needs to put that work on some person’s shoulder.

This in turn becomes a responsibility that is forced. If you are a person who knows the job, you must come forward to own the responsibility of the task.

This will help an employer to build confidence in you irrespective of the outcome of the task you owned. Even if you fail to accomplish it, the employer will praise you for coming forward.

3. Commit what you can complete

Avoid giving false commitments at the workplace as it will affect your career adversely.

Failing to keep commitments will lead to stress and unhappiness and it will lead to unnecessary excuses.

This can become a practice that is not healthy for your job. While at work you must ensure to commit what you can complete.

The commitments which cannot be kept are of no value and it further damages your image in the company.

Manage the schedule to track your commitments by creating a system. It is advisable not to take additional work if you cannot manage time for it.

You should be organized enough to track and find whether you can accomplish the task within a deadline or not.

Avoiding the additional work is better if you don’t have time and energy to spend.

While finishing a task take your subordinates with you by giving them small targets.

Managing the team, if you have, effectively can yield good results.

4. Keep positivity in conflicts

Having professional courage is an added advantage to your skills.

You can turn the conflict in a positive way with clear communication, respect for others, and openness in addressing issues.

The positive conflict may help you to complete your task earlier as you may get ideas from others.

Never fear the conflicts at the workplace and turn them into meaningful ones helping your professional future.

Stick to your ideas by letting others benefits from them and not by being too stubborn.

Your goals and targets should be crystal clear to others for them to know why you are standing up for your ideas.

5. Find a career of your liking

It is not easy to find a job that fascinates you but still you can try to pursue a career of your liking.

Even if you get less money for it, you may feel happy doing it.

Your skills will talk about you and your passion for that work will fulfill your satisfaction.

It is not that you will be always happy at the work of your passion.

Some dark patches are bound to come to make you frustrated and tired at some point.

However, if you are really enjoying the work, you will not be much bothered about them and can make your way again enjoying to work at.

6. You are the owner of your development

You will feel satisfied with the work only if you own it.

You must develop your professional and personal skills meaningfully to grow in your career.

If your goals and plans are clear, you won’t be ashamed of asking for valuable guidance from your superiors.

Think of them as your mentors and groom your career with their help by asking for some assignments which you would be happy to work on.

Growth in your career and see yourself improving will boost your confidence that will make you immensely satisfied with your career graph.

Create the opportunities even if your employer does not give any.

You can sharpen your professional skills if and when you get free time.

7. Check periodically where you are

Whenever you work for your employer you are authorized to ask for feedback about your work with your superior.

You can get feedback on your work can provide a positive atmosphere for you to work.

If you are open to accepting whatever feedback is, you can exceed the expectations of your employer.

Not getting feedback will, in a way, let employees down and unhappy and they can face difficulty in doing their job.

You should be proactive and ask the feedback to your boss who will help you to correct if needed or go forward with your task to complete.

You can also talk to management about the employee assessment to help everyone become successful.

8. Avoid negativity

The work can get affected because of the unhealthy environment at the workplace.

This will lead you to get negative even if you enjoy the work.

If you want to remain happy at the workplace, you must avoid negativity.

Any conversation, unhealthy relationship, gossip, should be left alone if you really want to grow in your career.

It is said that the impact of negative things is faster than positive things.

So even if you have a positive mind, the consistent negativity around you may impact your positive attitude and before you know it you will turn negative.

The realization of the negativity is a long process and it is difficult that one can come of it on his own.

It needs a lot of counseling and sessions for a person to bounce back.

9. Build your network:

One can perform better individually but the success will come only with the team.

You might need support from others to grow in your career and it can be done by building a good network of friends and subordinates.

The support network will help you do differently to become successful and happy in your job.

One is assured of motivation at work if he is having a good, supporting friend at the workplace.

Employees need to spend most of the time at the workplace so it will be an advantage if you have a person to share your thoughts with, at the workplace.

Also, his experience at work might help you some or the other way. He can support you well if he is part of the project you may be heading.

10. Find another job if all fails

It may happen that irrespective of your efforts at work and to remain happy, you will feel unsatisfied due to some unavoidable reasons.

If you cannot further pursue with same job, it is better to start searching for another one.

Even if you don’t love your job, it should not be unbearable for you. A minimal satisfaction and sense of family responsibility let you carry on the job but if it is not possible to continue further, move on somewhere else.

Agreed that getting a job is not that easy nowadays, but you can try to reach maximum connections or try sending your application to many places.

Sticking to the job where you feel miserable is of no point as the work culture will be unhealthy for you.

You recheck your employer, your job, and evaluate your career to decide where you want to proceed.

You can always look at the job of your professional interests and personal goals to grow in your career.

Remember, you are the creator of your success and if you feel a lot of hurdles are affecting your career goal, try to either jump over them or simply dislodge all and move in another direction.

Job is the place that is going to define your life so choose it wisely to try to achieve what you want.

You can consult a professional career counselor if you feel stuck somewhere so that you can get some advice.

Though many employers try to seek good recruits through some attractive perks, it depends on each individual how they feel at their workplaces.

There is no doubt that a happy and motivated employee gives more productive output to the employer.

But often, the employer tends to deny some perks because of his shortened revenue, and there the difference of opinion starts.

The human resources department work between management and employees but they have limitations and can’t fight for employees.

If the employers were so supportive, there would not be any workers union in any company.

But that is not going to happen any sooner.

Also, even if the employer is supportive, the employees have their own sense of happiness at work.

At a job, you can remain happy and work long time if you enjoy the work or know how to do it rightly.

Happiness is a relative term and the feeling changes from person to person.

If one person is happy about something it is not compulsory that another person would be.

Happiness at the job is a very rare thing but it is not impossible.

We have seen some people working in the same company from joining to retirement whereas some people change job every 2 or 3 years.

Remaining in the same job is related to satisfaction and happiness in terms of time, money, and position in the company.

Many people will stick to one job because they get a handsome salary at a higher position even if they struggle to overcome stress and anxiety.

Finding a job and retaining it is equally tough and it is tougher to be happy in a job.

One needs to mold his mind and body and repeatedly convince himself that he is happy in the job.

The situation may not be that worse if you are in a job of your professional interest.
