1 . FILES

What's taking up the most space?

Go to Settings > Storage and look at programs/files taking up most storage.

Review whether you need it or want to have it stored somewhere else.

Remind yourself that you will be gaining new things so you need to say goodbye to some.

Review > reassess > delete OR re-organise in another folder

--

Name/categorise your folders differently to locate them easily.

Re-look at your folders' names. Try re-naming them according to month and year. eg. 2020 Summer/Feb

Then go into that folder and break down names of folders into:

eg. Uni Semester 1 or Volunteer work or bills/receipts

Rename > Re-move / Delete >Review

--

For MAC users:

Right click or in the Finder window, have COLOUR CODED tags set up of the files into Work, Hobbies, Admin, Photos

1. Quick Access:

Drag the folders you use the most of the LEFT SIDE BAR of the Finder winder.

2. Viewing mode:

At the top of the Finder Window, you can adjust to how you want to find or view the files.

Every now and then, you can CHANGE to LIST or COLUMN view (I like mine in pictures/icons!)

--

2. EMAILS

How to remove SPAM emails:

Go into your JUNK/SPAM inbox. Click on each (if you can) and remember one or two of the TITLE/KEYWORDS.

Go into your main inbox and PASTE in the KEYWORD in the SEARCH BAR. If there are emails matching the title, DELETE it/or all!

Alternative:

Click on the ... (3 dots on the furthers right at the top of the EMAIL and find SECURITY OPTIONS until you find BLOCK ______.

You won't receive emails from them anymore phewwwww.

-

How to automatically move emails to a certain folder:

Find the ... (3 dots next to the other options in the top of the email)

Click on CREATE RULE.

To lessen EMAIL OVERLOAD in your inbox, this option helps move the email from this SENDER to a SPECIFIC FOLDER.

> Create a folder eg. invoices or youth newsletters.

Now in your own time, you can go and read them by finding the FOLDER on the left hand side bar under FOLDERS.

3. PROGRAMS

Do you really need that program?

1. Ask yourself:

Do you use that program in your day to day life? If not: UNINSTALL and move to TRASH BIN. Thank the program/game and farewell :)

2. Selective/control:

Note down which you use the most, which you CHOOSE to use on computer AND which you USE on phone.

Review >reassess >re-move/delete

Create boundaries for which program you use for either/both devices and stick to it!

-

4.DOCUMENTS:

Docs, Docs, Docs AAAAAA!

1. Time to befriend HARD DRIVES:

Yes, it is more pricey than USBs' but it's so good. A 1000GB drive is around $80-100. Invest in one. Save all your photos from high school, downloaded videos onto the drive and let your laptop/comp breathe.

2. Switch to working ONLINE:

Try working on Google Docs and use Google Drive as a digital storage space (haven't touched Microsoft Word since forever!)

Review >reassess >re-move/delete

Create boundaries for which program you use for either/both devices and stick to it!

-

Reminders:

~ let it go

(like Elsa in Frozen)

~ it takes time to sort through

your files and documents - no

rush. Do 40 minutes and get up

and eat a snack and come back to it.

~ give yourself a reward.

you just cleaned your head space

that has been storing up stuff

over many years if not a long time. Good work!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

break up with your phone *temporarily

1. Hold / Pause:

Set a day (eg. Sunday) to turn off phone and say "I will find old ways of doing life without looking at the screen. I will get back to you on Monday :)

2. Boundaries:

Set times (with your routine) of when you turn wi-fi connection on when you stop messaging, checking emails, notifications
