Nowadays, with technology advancing so much and apps and online streaming being one of the things we use the most, it is becoming more and more normal for us to have an online footprint.

We all want to make it big on social media, and with so many people wanting the same thing as you, there becomes more and more competition to get to that goal. But don't be led astray, just try your hardest.

Be organic.

First things first, you need to be one hundred percent yourself. You need to be totally organic. People can see straight through the lying and fake people online.

Be relatable.

You need to know who your audience is, and when you find that out, you should be as relatable as possible to them. You want to show people that you are just like them, but with a camera.

Post regular content.

Creating regular content is key as people like to see consistency in others. No one likes to be let down, so it is advisable to post something about once or twice a day. Do not be afraid to plan the content that you want to post. For example, if you are a fashion blogger, take pictures in different locations around your city in different outfits.

Follow a decent amount of people.

Now I am not saying you should follow everyone and their mothers, no. I am saying it is good for you and your online brand if you follow a couple hundred people, as this means that people believe that you are interested in others and take time to see what other people are doing with themselves.

Post pictures of yourself.

I'm saying this because it is essential that people know the face behind the brand. If you are a business, it is good to create a photo with everyone on there so that the customers know who they are dealing with. A business that has personality and has the faces of their owners and employees on social media gets customers that are more likely to trust it.

Tell the truth.

Be honest with the people that follow you. Do not lie and say you have this and you have that because eventually, people will realise that you do not when you stop taking photos of the objects or places. And especially so if they find the photos somewhere else online.

Do not use fake followers.

It is easy to see when someone is using fake followers, and it is not something that people take well. A lot of people, myself included, will think that you are just someone spamming people if you have fake followers, as it does not look good.

Interact

To gain more followers and interaction on your own posts, take time to interact on other people’s posts, and create a conversation flowing online.

Post something that will create a conversation.

If you post something that is open ended, people are more likely to reply. You can even just ask questions to people. Everyone loves putting their opinion into the world, so creating conversation with others will create opinions and beautiful diversity that everyone can get involved in.

Use quality pictures.

When posting on platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest, you need to make sure that the pictures that you are posting are of great quality. Not many people will get intrigued or want to carry onto your profile, or website if the images that they are presented with are not of great quality.

I would not recommend using most of the Instagram filters, as they don’t make the image look realistic, and that is what you should be aiming towards.

Lastly,

Use your platforms for good!

This is something that should be a pretty self-explanatory thing, but a lot of people misuse social media. A lot of users will want to degrade someone and make them feel low. Do not use social media platforms for negativity. We already have enough of that in the world.
