Ants are a real nuisance when they enter your home and it is very difficult to get rid of them. There are many products on the market designed specifically to stop an ant invasion in the home, but you can also do a few simple things to get rid of them permanently.

You don't need a lot of ingredients, and the remedy we propose to you gets rid of any species of ants, but also of other insects, such as kitchen beetles.

Learn how to get rid of ants in a few simple steps!

How to get rid of ants

The only downside to this ant remedy is that it will make a little mess because you will have to clean it after ingesting the toxic substance for them.

That means you might have to put the furniture aside, for example, but it's worth the effort because it's much better than always waking up with them in the closets and food, right?

To get rid of ants, you need:

  • borax (you should find this product in the detergent district, in stores);
  • jelly or jam (you don't need much, so just buy a jar);
  • juice bottle caps (10–20 caps);
  • a bowl in which to mix the ingredients;
  • a plastic spoon.

How to prepare and use ant poison:

1. Take the bowl and mix the jam and borax with the plastic spoon. The concentration should be 5% borax, so the easiest way to measure is to put 10 tablespoons of jam in a bowl and half a tablespoon of borax, then mix well until you get a homogeneous paste. You can make more pasta; just double the quantities.

2. Now that you have made the poisonous ant mixture, you need to put it in the juice lids and distribute them around the house, in the areas where you noticed that you have ants. You don't have to put too many caps, because the ants will be attracted by the sweet aroma and will come very quickly to "enjoy" the jam. It would be good to put these lids in the corners of the room, behind the furniture, under the bed, etc.

3. After a day or two, you will notice that the ants begin to gather around the corks. They will feed the rest of the ants with the poisonous mixture, which does not take effect immediately. This is exactly the idea of low borax. If you put too much, the ants will die next to the lids and will not feed the other ants. Therefore, if you notice that they are starting to die around the lids, prepare the mixture once more, but with less borax.

Careful! Do not allow pets or children to play or touch lids with jam and borax, as this is a toxic substance.

If the ants return (you may not be able to get rid of them from the first try), you can try the following to eliminate them:

  • mix 100 g of borax with 3 liters of water and wash the floor with this solution. Again, if you have children or pets, do not allow them access to the room in question.
  • prepare a solution with vinegar, which you can spray through all the areas where you noticed ants;
  • prepare a solution of alcohol, detergent, and water (about a teaspoon of the first two ingredients in 200 ml of water), then spray it through the places where you noticed ants;
  • lemon juice is very effective if you want to get rid of ants, so squeeze a few lemons, put the juice in a spray container, and spray with natural spray in all areas that are invaded by ants;

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. So you can draw around the jars of honey or jam, which usually attract them, or you can draw a line where you notice them entering the house.

Instead of borax, you can use baking soda mixed with powdered sugar, also placed in plastic caps around the house. It seems to kill them quite slowly, but in a few days, you can get rid of all the ants.

If all these solutions do not work and you do not know how to get rid of ants, you can use the services of a company that deals with insect repellent, because it is not a pleasure to share the apartment with an ant colony!
