It’s okay to read a book to help you get in a great mental space or even to exercise at home to feel good about yourself. But, a simple walk with nature could help you feel good mentally and physically.

God gave most of 5 senses we can use to interact with nature:

•Touch

•Sight

•Hearing

•Smell

•Taste

Since I am no expert at nature plants, I would suggest using only 4 of these senses on your walk.

A Walk On A Beach

Sight: During your walk on the beach notice the line where the sky meets the ocean. Look at how beautiful it looks and how perfect the line is. This will help slow your heart rate down and ease your mind. This also can boost your confidence. By knowing that God who created the perfect line that divided the sky and the ocean created you with the same perfection, you would find confidence in how you look. Notice other things that please your sight, like: the sunset, or the wave in the ocean, or even the different animals on the beach. Know that God created each of things and made them all beautiful, just like he made you beautiful.

Touch: Walk barefoot on the beach. Feel the sand on the bottom of your feet and in between your toes. This will help ground your mind and keep it from wondering off into a deep thought. As you are walking try to notice some other things that you can feel, like the wind , or the heat from the sun. This will help you calm down mentally and help you enjoy the scenery a little more.

Hearing: No music needed for this walk. Listening to the waves is so calming. The sound of peace and relaxation. Listen to the wind that whispers a peaceful sound in your ear. This will help quiet the noise in your head.

Smell: The smell of nature can be good or bad . Even if it is a bad smell it can distract you from getting overwhelmed with your own thoughts.

A Walk on a Nature Trail

Sight: You can’t help but notice how tall and green the trees are when you are on a walking trail. Count how many animals you see on your walk. Look at the different colors of your surroundings.

Touch: Most trees on a nature trail are safe to touch . Feel how ruff the tree bark is and how smooth the leaves are. You can also feel how the weather is like; maybe it’s super hot or even rainy. You never know what you feel on a nature walk.

Hearing: Listen to the different sounds of the animals on your walk as they sing praises to God. The amazing and unique sound of each animal can help sharpen your hearing skills. Focus on the sound and not your thoughts.

Smell: Some plants can smell really good on this walk . Try to smell some flowers every now and then to be present in your surroundings .

Things You Don’t Need On A Walk:

•A cell phone: No listening to music while you are on a walk. Just listen to the sound of nature. No need to take pictures to post on social media during your nature walk. This walk is to get away from the noise and to enjoy nature.

• A book: No time for reading while you are in nature. Let your surroundings be your entertainment. Enjoy what God created for us !

• A timer : Time is not important on a nature walk. Time will distract you from enjoying your walk in nature and actually makes you more stressed.

Things You Do Need on a Walk:

Water: It’s important to stay hydrated on your walk, especially when you are in the blazing sun.

Snack: Bring a healthy snack on your walk. You might need it to give you some energy on your adventure bake home.

You Are Skillfully and Wonderfully Made!

The most important thing to do on your walk is to notice how beautiful God made this Earth for us. Find confidence and peace within yourself knowing that the same God that created the beautiful scenery of Earth created you.
