DIY Crochet Tip, Plus a Rasta Style Hat Pattern

Here is what I do when I make hats, or Amigurumi (I don't like when my rounds are in Spirals so I don't don't work in the round instead, I've come up with these lil tips when I crochet, that should be in the round... Also I have included a free pattern of mine that I had come up with for a friend..

When you are not working in the round a way to keep your seams, less noticable:

1. Increasing... I always use the last Stitch created by your Slipstitch from previous round. So you will skip your last increase on that row. For example you Magic Circle, Single Stitch 6, close up your Magic Circle, Slip Stitch into your First Stitch of the 6 (you will have counted 6), But the Slipstitch will actually give you 7 Top Stitch Count,. For Round 2, you will Single Stitch into the stitch you Slip stitched into, this is 1, Increase the rest up to the Slip Stitch (which should be 5 increases), & 1 Single Crochet into your Extra Stitch. & Slip Stitch to close off Round so this will give you a count of 12 but you will have 13 top Stitch count, & then Round 3… You will do your Single stitch in the stitch you Slip Stitched into & Increase 1, repeat 4 more times, you should have 3 Stitches left this is including your Extra Stitch. Single Stitch in the last 3 stitches giving you a count of 18, Slip Stitch to close off round. You will have 19 top Stitch count. Continue to do each Increasing row like this and you will see you have a seamless project.

2. Regular Rounds... For the rounds where it’s just Single stitch the complete round. (A) If you have to do 1 row, it’s simple, just Single Stitch your row until you have 3 stitches left this includes your Extra Stitch. Invisible Decrease 1, you should have 1 left. Single Stitch & Slipstitch, continue with your rounds. (B) For multiple rounds of Single Crochet each for the round. I will alternate, the first round of Single Crochets, I will Decrease 1 at the 2nd last Stitch, Then the Next Round I will Decrease the very First Stitch. This helps to keep your rounds straighter (the rounds do shift, but it’s less noticeable) & the seams are less noticeable (however you may see the seam somewhat, and you’ll notice it even less once you perfect your technique).

3. Decreasing... When decreasing a Round I simply Decrease the First St of each Row… It’s that Easy.

I have come up with this pattern as Jess the amazing model in Photo above, had asked me to do her up a hat that will hold all her Dreadlocks and this is what I have come up with.. I hope you enjoy making it.
