Quarantine? No problem!

In the current days of the pandemic, our lives have been threatened by more than just a virus, with more and more people in temporary lock down, many situations arise. For example, anxiety cravings, addictions also increase, because of the need for mental and maybe even physical relief due to all those hours spent gaming, just sitting in a little chair for hours and hours, eating chips, fries, who knows, even a nice sugar packed box of Oreos.

No one blamed here, sugary and fat packed food is delicious, everyone is being affected by the current conditions and is not all bad news, this lock down mode also started an urge for creativity, we humans need attention and many humans can cope with being lonely, others not so much, but in this dilemma is where the choice dwells, create or die. Because people is adapting to the situation and learning to handle their attention, in a more creative way.

Even if you are doing small TikTok videos, you are in the right path. These days we have an amazing opportunity not only to defeat being bored but also to destroy all the ignored effects of COVID-19, Loneliness, anxiety, depression, obesity and everything that comes by.

Our “human” contact is mainly through social media, many people is focusing not only on sharing their creativity to work out and get some exercise but also to relief that “need” for human touch, and we get it, all those likes we receive are known to release dopamine in our brains, and that feels good no matter who you are. Is like a small little drug that depends on our digital behavior.  And that is not necessarily bad, getting LOTS of attention in social media is no piece of cake, and it takes some effort to get content going.

So general recommendations that have really helped me get through the quarantine:

1 - Stay Trendy: If you really want your content watched, look for what people is already watching, or at least look for an audience that engages well with the content you are planning to make and you will have lots of fun, just stay trendy!

2 - Stay Active: Beyond the health benefits, if your social media interactions have a lot of movement like physical comedy, dance moves, or body stunts (like a very hard yoga pose) they will become eye catching, use this marketing strategy to “seduce” your audience while doing your social media.

3 – Stay creative: Draw, paint, do an exercise routine you’ve never tried before, hell maybe even order some of that carbon based fish ice-cream and record yourself reacting to its flavor.

4 – Stay aware: There is a lot of information running around about this pandemic, follow official reliable sources, and try not to spread panic around people around you, you might not suffer from actual chronic anxiety but many people are suffering anxiety attacks just from getting their news on social media these days.

5 – Support your community and people in need: If you have the possibility of helping and organization battling the virus you may donate through the world health organization found program, or you may even assist small creators in platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and even here in Vocal there is an option to support writers in time of need with small tips.

We all know how to avoid getting infected, we all know the things that we shouldn’t be doing these days. But do we know the full extension of what can we do? Let’s now avoid the whole negative effects of the situation by working on our resources of human contact and let these words be a spark of creative possibilities coming to your mind.

Because this is the way to fully combat the virus.
