I am woman, I am human. I hope you don't smell me coming.

There are a few of us for whom deodorant/antiperspirant of any kind just never works. If you are one of the unlucky ones, keep reading. If you are someone who wants to get away from aluminum based deodorants (as everyone should), keep reading.

Let me start by saying I have tried pretty much every product under the sun from sticks, aerosols, roll ons, powders, paste, crystal, vegan, hypoallergenic, and clinical strength. Not one of them worked effectively. Unfortunately, the longest "lasting" one was an aluminum based product, the type of deodorant that is among the worst for your body. It lasted about three hours before I had to reapply a second coat. Every single other type I had to reapply within 5-15 minutes after the first application. Let's face it, it's not easy to do your job when you are having to run to a private place where no one eyeballs you weird for putting on deodorant.

As most people know by now, or should be made aware of, aluminum can cause breast cancer. That is the main reason I've switched to an all-natural deodorant. While there are several other products boasting a healthier alternative, you have to do your research because even those claiming to be all-natural also contain toxic chemicals. Research what you are putting on or in your body because you could be poisoning yourself.

One late night I got lost on a YouTube video train and was sucked into watching a lifehack video. One thing that popped up was a natural deodorant that was made with a few super cheap ingredients and a few slightly more expensive ones that are multi-purpose. A great deal of people already have 90 percent of these ingredients on hand.

I was skeptical at first with my unlucky track record for crappy deodorants and antiperspirants, but I had all of the ingredients and figured: "What the hell?" So I followed the directions and poured it all into an old deodorant tube and let it set in the fridge for over an hour (I forgot about it). When I remembered, I tried to turn the little knob/handle and it just kept going around and around without pushing up the deodorant.

Before giving into my temper and chucking it I decided to at least try it, but how, when it's not working properly? I have a lot of unused make-up brushes so I grabbed a random one and brushed a small amount on each armpit. I'm am very pleased to announce that it stayed on not only for six hours but also while I was sweating buckets making dinner over a hot stove and oven.

I do not recommend using an older deodorant tube; it didn't work for me. I I ended up having to re-melt the deodorant and put it in an old glass jar that once held a clay mask. Use what you can or buy something. Now I just have to figure out how to apply it without getting my hands all dirty. This is now my new miracle deodorant.

Keep in mind that your body may not react to it so positively; everyone's genetic make-up is different and reacts differently to chemicals. The recipe is below.

DIY Deodorant:

1/3 cup corn starch

1/3 cup baking soda

5 to 6 tbsp Coconut Oil (melted)

6 drops tea tree oil

10 drops lavender oil (optional)

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl till it is like a semi-thick soup. Pour in to a container of your choice and refrigerate for one hour. Store in a cool dry place.

Tea tree is an anti-inflammatory. You can use whatever secondary oil you want to change up the smell. Lavender is all I had and tea tree can smell like an industrial cleaner if you're not used to it.
