Checklist for the SMM manager

from daily to quarterly tasks

In the process of SMM promotion, a specialist faces a large number of tasks. In order not to get lost in them and not grab your head, thinking about what to tackle in the first place, you should make yourself a small checklist for every day, week, month, and quarter. We have prepared our version of such a checklist, ranging from large, strategic tasks to daily ones.

Daily tasks:

Check the releases of publications. Deferred posting services are, of course, the best solution for optimizing the work of a specialist and schedule posts on Instagram, where there is no such built-in function. But they all have the peculiarity of periodically "going to bed" without releasing posts on time or at all. Therefore, it is still necessary to monitor whether the post came out.

Reply to user comments. The faster you reply to a user's comments, the more likely they would make a purchase. We advise you to set aside time during the day to communicate with the audience and answer their questions. The speed of reaction is especially important when dealing with negativity - an untimely response can significantly damage the brand's reputation.

Work with Instagram stories. Yes, Stories can be scheduled too. For example, if you decide to communicate with the audience through a sticker with questions, you need to be in touch during the day. You also need to monitor the marks in the stories.

Weekly tasks:

Develop a content plan and prepare content for the week. At the end of each week, make a content plan and schedule content through delayed posting services for the next week. The goal is to use content to promote the message of your business, as seen in this article. It will definitely help to optimize your work.

Analyze trends and news. The world of social networks is changing every day: updates are released, new opportunities and services appear. To stay on the wave, you should at least once a week read specialized resources.

Monthly tasks:

Provide reporting to the client. It is quite an important point since the client must understand what happens to his “child” after he has placed him in your care. Once a month, it is enough to make summaries on the achievement of KPIs since such a period allows you to see the dynamics and draw conclusions.

Create and update visual content. In order not to think every day “what to put out today” or not to go to the client every day, it is advisable to think over the visual content for a month in advance. If we are talking about unique photo content, shoot once a month, thinking over each frame, props, the required number of photos of different styles. Also, before shooting, you should pay attention to the season, upcoming holidays, and trends to get relevant content as a result.

Create and update headings. It's okay when, over time, the content no longer receives the same response from the audience as in the beginning. The main thing is to understand in time and replace the annoying heading with something fresh and relevant.

Elaborate on activations for the next month. It is worth thinking about which pranks you will be running, which mechanics to use. Perhaps it will be a drawing on the page of a famous blogger or a photo contest.

Quarterly:

Creation of an SMM strategy and subsequent changes to it. As we have already written many times, quality promotion begins with drawing up a strategy - a document that is a framework and a guide to all subsequent work. It includes an analysis of the target audience, competitors, examples of communication, and other points. However, it is not enough to draw up a strategy once. It is necessary to periodically revise it and adjust it depending on the results obtained, new trends in the promotion, and the reaction of the audience.

Setting and analyzing KPIs. Only the lazy does not say that any project should have clear performance metrics. Yes, indeed, at the start of the project, it is very important to prescribe the parameters by which you will further evaluate the result. But it is also important to understand how to collect them, analyze them and what to do with them later.

Assistants:

Google Analytics is a faithful assistant, which is indispensable for any project that has a website. And if we are talking about an online store that does not sell goods through social networks, then using analytics is extremely important. In this way, you can track the number of sales and traffic from social media.

Livedune is a convenient third-party analytics service. It will calculate the engagement rate for you, show the growth of subscribers, top posts for the specified period, and many other helpful statistics.

Facebook and Instagram analytics. Even if you do not use the previous services, you must be able to use the built-in analytics. At a minimum, Instagram will show the growth of subscribers and reach per week, the number of clicks on the site, geographic and demographic (gender, age) data about your subscribers. The same can be said for Facebook, only by adding metrics such as increasing number of likes, subscribers, organic and ad reach graphs.
