To make handmade jewelry, you only need some simple tools and findings. Learning some simple jewelry-making techniques will allow you to create a great variety of bracelets, necklaces, or earrings, that you will always enjoy wearing.

Usually making jewelry gifts for men can be a challenge but not with this easy tutorial. Learn how to make a cool black leather bracelet with a metal link and sliding knot for guys.

Materials:

a thin leather strip

a metal link

waxed nylon cord

scissors

clamps

a lighter

Put the black nylon cord through the metal link.

Make a knot right next to the link.

Knot the end of the cord to stop the square sliding knot from sliding off when you finish the bracelet.

Cut the cord end.

Make a second knot at the other end of the metal link.

Now the link has a knot on both ends.

Knot the other end of the cord as well.

Cut the cord end.

Now use the lighter to burn both cord ends.

Cut your thin strip of leather to the desired length and attach the metal link with the cord. To prevent the cord from moving while working, attach the cord to the leather strip using a clamp.

Take a piece of cord, make a loop on the leather strip, next to the metal link, wrap the cord around the loop several times, pass one end of the cord through the loop and pull the other end of the cord to tighten the loop. Remove the clamp as soon as the cord has been attached.

Now burn the ends of this cord.

Wrap cord on both sides of the metal link, to attach the link to the leather strip.

Move the clamp to the end of the leather strip, in order to wrap the nylon cord here as well.

Take another piece of cord, make a loop at the end of the leather strip, wrap the cord around the loop several times, pass one end of the cord through the loop and pull the other end of the cord to tighten the loop.

Cut the cord with the scissors.

Burn the ends of the cord with the lighter.

Now that the cord has been attached to the leather strip, take a short piece of cord to create the square sliding knot. Lay out the bracelet, making sure you have knotted the ends. This stops the finished knot from sliding off.

Tie the cord knot using either an overhand or reef knot around the bracelet cords. Take the left-hand cord and bring it down crossing over the right cord. Take the left cord under the main bracelet cords and make sure you go under both cords. Then bring the left cord up through the loop you left in the right-hand cord and pull both ends together. This is now the first knot of the square knot done. Next, repeat the steps but on the other side. So lay the right-hand cord across the bracelet, leaving a loop.

Then repeat the steps to make a few more complete square knots.

To hide the ends cut off the excess cord.

Burn the ends with a lighter.

And that’s it!

The sliding knot and your bracelet are ready!

Now you can enjoy wearing your new handcrafted bracelet or offer it as a gift to someone you love.
