Aryna Sabalenka Wins the Australian Open Women’s Singles Title:

In the women's singles final of the Australian Open in 2023, Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka, the fifth seed, rallied from a set down to defeat Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, the second seed. Rybakina was defeated by Sabalenka 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to earn her first Grand Slam victory in singles.

Rybakina, the defending Wimbledon champion, appeared to have the upper hand after winning the first set, but Sabalenka outplayed her in the second set and eventually clawed her way to victory in the decider despite blowing three match points.

Earlier, in the Semifinal, Rybakina defeated Victoria Azarenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, 7-6(4), 6-3, to advance directly to the finals. To reach the last frontier, Sabalenka defeated Magda Linette in straight sets, 7-6(1), 6-2.
