Applying for Jobs with the Help of Chat GPT

I'm going to need a Part 2 for this piece, which will be when I get the job... my friends!

Two weeks ago, I didn't even know what "Chat GPT" was - however its popularity has since been talked about on my Tik Tok fyp and I jumped on to try it out for myself. (If you haven't come across it yet, just Google "Chat GPT", or okay, here's the link).

People have shared their experiences using this AI for writing content ideas, resumes and cover letters, fictional stories (even poetry?!).

I have tried using it today for a job application. I definitely feel that my resume needs a revamp, I've been job hunting for a while now and we're going into 2023, I want a refreshed new page to summarise who I am and what I'm about.

And, I happened to come across a job ad for something I genuinely can see myself in, the hours work for me, the location is good as well, it genuinely seems like the ideal next stepping stone for me.

But just for the sake of sharing some relatable samples of how this AI works, I'll use a totally random example so you can see below what the AI is generating.

EXAMPLE SEARCH: Marketing and Communications jobs in Sydney, NSW (Australia).

Okay, there's quite a lot of results. Let's narrow the salary to between $80K - $120K

Okay, so this is a very typical example of a Marketing Manager job ad in Australia.

So, let's say you really are qualified. You know what you've done, you just need AI to help do 80% of this grunt work to build your new resume. It's just letting someone else join the dots together for you, you will still need to edit, cut and paste, slightly re-word the results.

Okay, my query to chat GPT: "Write me a resume for a Marketing Manager, Cancer Council Australia"

Chat GPT:

And I'll add Part 2 when I get the job, my friends!
