Have you ever wondered what goes into constructing an inground fiberglass swimming pool?

At first, it might appear to be a massive endeavor. But on the other hand, fiberglass inground pool dealers are professionals at pool installation. Most of them have years of experience constructing hundreds of pools in various backyard settings and have perfected the process.

But, for people who are curious about the process, here are the steps for installing an inground fiberglass pool.

Pool Layout:

For inground fiberglass pools, the installer will be given a dig sheet with measurements of less than an inch from the hole for the inground pool should be built to accommodate that specific model. Talk about the pool's location and any landscaping plans ahead of time so that everything is taken into account before digging begins.

Excavation:

Excavators and backhoes will remove the grass and dirt during this process, and the installer will use the dig sheet to monitor the hole's levels as it is excavated. The measurements are on the dig sheet. According to these specifications, the pool is dug with enough over dig to accommodate piping and accessories.

Laying the Floor:

After the excavation is finished, a gravel bed is spread on the floor to provide a foundation for the pool. Screed bars are used as slope guides to make the screeding operation easier. The gravel is then crushed to assure the stability of the floor.

Pool Delivery and Positioning:

The fiberglass inground swimming pools are then delivered on a low trailer developed particularly for transporting fiberglass inground pools. The filtration equipment is supplied at the same time as your pool.

A crane is usually used to hoist the pool into place. Your installer will normally visit the site before installation to review an access plan or path to confirm that access is achievable. Once the pool has been put into the hole, all levels are verified to ensure that it is exactly in position and ready to be plumbed and backfilled.

Backfilling and Plumbing:

The basics of pool plumbing involve installing a skimmer box, deep end-suction connections, and return fittings. From these things to the pump and filter, PVC piping is installed. A groundwater access pipe with a hydrostatic pressure release is also recommended. The pump, filter, and optional salt system are installed when those processes are done. Gravel is commonly used as a backfill material; however, a flowable backfill might also be employed. The pool will be filled with water at the same time as it is being backfilled, ensuring equal pressure and stability on both sides of the fiberglass walls.

Bond Beam and Reinforcement:

After the pool has been backfilled, a reinforcing rebar is installed around the perimeter for added strength. After the rebar has been bonded/grounded, an 8" thick layer of concrete is poured around the perimeter to establish a mechanical lock. This footing/bond beam strengthens the pool and supports the coping finish, which follows next.

Deck and Coping

Many dealers install travertine pavers on the pool's top and bond beam to increase the pool's appearance. The decking and any landscaping and fence are completed after the paver coping are put in.

As opposed to the months of preparation required for vinyl liner and gunite pools, the composite fiberglass pool installation procedure is comparatively straightforward and rapid. It is possible to go from an empty backyard to a completely finished swimming pool in a matter of a few days, depending on the weather and your installation and gardener schedule.
