1. Invest in yourself

You are the most important thing in your life. You are the one who has to do it. Money, success, happiness aren’t automatically going to throw themselves at you. So:

  • Exercise at least 3 times per week
  • Read every day, improve your knowledge
  • Your sleep is important, get window blinds, an airco, a good bed..
  • Eat healthy

You have probably heard the above things a thousand times, but that’s simply because it’s true and necessary. How do you want to be able to work hard, if you don’t have energy? You get energy by taking care of your body and mind — so quit your excuses and simply do it!

P.S. I am writing more stories about personal health in the future, so if you’re interested you can always subscribe to me!

2. Only compare yourself… to yourself

Everyone and every body is different. What works for your friends might not work for you.

For example: in general we can say that getting up earlier is better for your professional performances, and overall this is correct, however if you’re ABSOLUTELY not a morning person, then use a different approach. I have a good friend who wakes up around 11AM, relaxes, and starts working around 1PM. He then continues working until 3–4AM, because he says he’s simply more productive at night.

So: find what works for you, and improve every day. The only person you should try to beat, is the person you were yesterday.

3. Focus on what you can control

If it rains, can do you something about it? What about traffic jams? Can you solve them? Probably not. There are many, many things happing to us every day, and we can’t prevent everything from happening to us. What we CAN do, is decide how we will REACT to the things that happen to us.

For example: you found an investor for a project of yours, and suddenly the investors withdraws and cancels everything. You can then give up on your project, OR accept this, learn from it, move on and search for other solutions.

When you focus on what we can control, your thoughts help you to trigger positive emotions, and you will eventually reach your goals.

There are 3 things that you can control every day:

  • Your attitude
  • Your effort
  • Your actions (and reactions)

4. Keep a positive mindset and see opportunity in everything

Not everything will always go well. You will encounter problems, heartbreak, loss, drama, sad moments and many more negative emotions.

However, if you are optimistic about the world around you, and you expect that good things will happen to you, then mostly, they will.

On the other side: a negative attitude or mindset, can indicate that you expect bad things to happen, so they are indeed more likely to happen.

Your thoughts determine your reality. Also remember that every problem is a challenge that may also bring you new opportunities.

5. Develop a strong support network

Surround yourself with people who help you win: friends, business peers, mentors, family and anyone who will help you achieve your goals & dreams.

If 5 of your friends are millionaires, you will be the 6th.

Your environment greatly influences who you are, and who you will become.

6. Plan your day the night before

Planning your day the night before is an incredibly popular and effective productivity strategy. Get everything ready you need for the morning: exercise materials, clothes, food, books, notepads.. anything you need to be done in the morning. This will make it easier to effectively do these things after waking up.

Everything is easier and simpler when you’ve planned for it, and you’re way more likely to do it.
