Heading to a Day Spa has a host of health benefits, from helping you de-stress to promoting anti-aging effects and better sleep. As a result, many people are heading to day spas as a way to unwind and improve their health; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people in the United States with a desperate need for some rejuvenation may be missing out.
That being said, some United States businesses are beginning to open up with different restrictions, and gyms and day spas are two such industries that are looking a little different as a result of the pandemic. Here are five different things to keep in mind as you plan on returning to a day spa in order to reap all of the benefits of spas.
Make sure you have a mask!
The first thing you'll want to have in order to go anywhere in public is a face mask. Having a medical mask or other face cover isn't just important for your own protection; it's also important to protect others. As a result, most businesses, including spas and gyms, are mandating that individuals wear a mask or other face covering when they go out.
Just because you have to wear a mask doesn't mean that you can't look great doing so! Instead of settling for a basic white mask, consider purchasing a pink face mask or a face mask with a pattern on it. This way, you'll feel comfortable and less self-conscious, since your mask will be just another part of your outfit.
Read up on any policy changes
Likely, your day spa has adopted new policies in order to protect its staff and other guests as a result of the coronavirus. As such, it's important that you look into what sorts of changes to expect when you come to visit for a little relaxation. Some services may not be available until it's deemed safe by the city, whereas other services could be totally fine with proper sanitization. Appointment times may also be even more important to respect, since many salons, gyms, and spas have a reduced capacity for the time being. Make sure to be an informed consumer so you can enjoy your relaxation without needing to think twice about guidance from the Center for Disease Control.
Be prepared to social distance
If there are other guests when you visit, make sure that you're able to distance yourself from others (six feet is the advised length of space between people). The last thing you want when you're heading to the day spa is to jeopardize the health and safety of someone else. Keeping your distance and following all posted signage will make it easier to enjoy your time at the spa, rather than having to worry about whether or not you're at risk for getting infected.
Respect reception
An extension of the tip about social distancing: it's extra important to respect the receptionist's counter, since this is a highly-trafficked area of the day spa. Make sure to keep your distance and wear your mask when speaking with the receptionist. If there's hand sanitizer available to use from the desk, be sure to use it before and after handing over your credit card or signing any documents. This not only protects you and other guests, but the receptionist and other staff members working to bring everyone some much-needed relaxation therapy.
Don't go if you're not feeling well!
This may seem obvious, but if you're feeling under the weather, reschedule your appointment! Many places are being extra generous with their exchange and rescheduling policies, so there's no reason to keep your appointment if you don't feel well. Brush up on the symptoms of coronavirus beforehand so that you can make the smart decision the day you're scheduled to head to the day spa.
