Right now, the world is experiencing a pandemic unlike anything to have happened within the last hundred years. COVID-19 (coronavirus) has had the world in a panic, as this virus has had a devastating impact. One of the best things you can do in this time of crisis is to stay at home as much as possible to avoid spreading and receiving germs from people outside. To stay safe at home, you will also want to keep your house clean from germs and stop the virus from potentially reaching you and your family. Of course, practicing social distancing, wearing a mask when outdoors, and washing your hands frequently are highly encouraged, but what about keeping your home clean? This article will list four helpful tips you should know and consider for preventing the spread of the virus in your home.

1. Hiring a Cleaning Crew

Understandably, you may be overwhelmed with the task of keeping your house clean. If you live in a large house with many people, you alone might not be enough to regularly handle this task. That is why hiring a sanitizing service is a safe and reliable choice for heavy duty work. The right cleaning crew knows the ins and outs of keeping your home entirely safe from the virus or any other offending germs. You can be confident that you and your family will be safe with a crew that both practices social distancing rules as well as ensures your home is sanitized from top to bottom. For heavy duty jobs, a cleaning service is the way to go to put your mind at ease.

2. Knowing the Difference Between Cleaning and Disinfecting

If you plan on doing your own cleaning on your home, or want to handle the smaller cleaning jobs yourself, you should know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting, as the two concepts are not the same. Cleaning refers to the simple removal of germs by means of soap and water and other common, light methods. Disinfecting is a much deeper clean that involves the usage of chemicals and thoroughly eliminates germs and contaminants. Cleaning is something you should being doing around your house frequently, whereas disinfecting refers to the heavier work that a cleaning service would do, for example. Your house should be both cleaned and disinfected, but understanding the difference helps to keep your home on track.

3. Knowing What to Clean

Certain rooms and surfaces in your house are more in need of regular cleaning than others. The most problematic areas in your house where germs are concerned are your bathrooms and your kitchen. These rooms should get the most attention as they can harbor the most germs. Be sure to regularly clean surfaces that get touched frequently, which include countertops, doorknobs, and drawers, light switches, and staircase railings. Also, objects around your house that get frequent use include keyboards, remote controls, and phones, which should also be frequently cleaned to prevent the spread of germs. Some of these objects are used so often that you might forget they are there, so make special note to clean them frequently.

4. Using the Right Products for Cleaning and Disinfecting

Most average cleaning products you can find at your supermarket can be used to combat the virus and other harmful germs. For simple cleaning jobs, household cleaning wipes, soap, and water should do the trick, as well as all-purpose cleaning sprays. For heavier disinfecting work, bleach does the job, but realize that you need to be careful with bleach, as it can be very harmful if misused. Dilute bleach with water as opposed to using it directly – mix a gallon of water with five tablespoons of bleach. Be sure to also keep rooms that you clean with bleach well-ventilated, and never mix bleach with ammonia or other cleaners.

Be sure to practice safety precautions when using heavy duty cleaners. With these simple tips and facts, you can help keep you and your family safe from the coronavirus.
