Are you tired of always creating content only to have it go to a black hole in social media?
Are you ready to create content once and then create year round traffic to it?
Do you wonder which platforms you should spend your time on that will give you the highest return on your time?
You’re not alone, my friend.
I remember when I used to be on the content hamster wheel.
Logging onto Instagram to post my daily Instagram story.
AND
Logging onto Facebook to conduct my daily Facebook Live.
To say it was fucking draining is the understatement of the year.
Can you relate?
So I went back to the drawing board after my recovery from major burnout and decided that it was time to do things differently.
There are ton of platforms for you to be on, but I’ve identified 3 key criteria that allow me to determine whether it’s worth me putting my time or effort into.
And now it’s my time to guide you off the content hamster wheel and share them with you.
What’s the magical ingredient that allows you to get year round traffic?
Your content needs to be both shareable and searchable.
Nothing is greater than having another person do the traffic efforts for you.
That’s why it’s easier to become a mega influencer on TikTok nowadays, because when you create content that speaks to your audience and is relatable to them, they’re more inclined to share it.
Another strategy to get year round traffic is to have your content be searchable. That’s why platforms such as Google, YouTube, and Pinterest do so well.
To put it simply, they are search engines.
People use these platforms to get answers to their questions.
So long as your content includes the keywords to their questions, your content will show up. But it’s important that you create good content that people would want to engage with. That is why blogs and YouTube videos work so well. You’re able to both share the content but also search for it.
But how do you create shareable content?
In order for you to create shareable content, you need to create relatable content. Your ability to do this depends on your ability to thoroughly identify your target audience. I recommend you look at this article to conduct market research:
Once you’ve identified your target audience, you know what things keep them up at night. Create content on those topics because it will allow you to both deeply resonate with them but also attract them to follow your content - which is a win, win situation.
One thing to note as well is that you want to create content that people will share. Don’t create content that is all about you, for a lack of better words - people don’t care about you, they want to know what’s in it for them. Provide value generously.
Creating that luscious viral potential
Have you ever noticed that viral content is polarizing?
Why is that?
Well, people like to naturally “pick” sides and commune with individuals that relate to them. If this makes you feel uncomfortable, that’s okay, it’s meant to.
To put it simply, if you stand for nothing, you stand for everything.
If you create lackluster content that is meant for everyone, you will target no one.
Be polarizing, speak your truth, don’t resist. I’m sure there’s been something on your mind that you want to speak out about?
In summary, I’ve shared with you 3 tips that will allow you to have your content always stay relevant. I’ve shown you the criteria you need to have your content get year round traffic without additional marketing efforts. Finally, I’ve shared with you that polarizing content has the highest opportunity to become viral content.
