It’s been a year-long journey since I’ve made my first passive income dollar online.

“If you can be grateful for pennies, you can truly appreciative the millions”

I started this journey because I wanted to diversify my revenue streams, build up my online digital real estate, and test out the idea of “passive income” online.

This article has been a year in the making. If you learn these lessons now, you can significantly increase your chances of hitting success sooner.

Let’s not waste anymore reading time, let’s get into it.

1. Write For a Person, Not an Audience

When you try to please everyone, you please no one. Write to the individual, not to the masses. It may have been a past version of yourself (it usually is). The point is, when you write to one person, you attract more like-minded individuals.

2. Shoot For a $1 Day, Not One Time Sales

What does a $1 day offer you that a onetime sale doesn’t? Consistency, predictability, and stability.

Cash flow is more important than cash influxes. Look to add to your daily revenue.

#3 Focus On One Medium

Stop spreading yourself thin by trying to be on too many platforms at once.

Don’t be a writer, filmmaker, editor, graphic designer, and photographer all at once. Focus on the medium that works best for you. Then focus on the platforms that cater to your content medium.

#4 Diversify, Diversify, Diversify

Stop bitching (I’m a little harsh, but it’s with positive intention) about how “X platform” is not paying you enough. Don’t play victim.

Instead of focusing on one revenue source, ask yourself how you can create 2-3 with one output?

#5 Get Personal

People fall in love with your persona more than your writing. But your writing style portrays your personality.

For example, I cuss here and there, but I love to cut the BS, get to the point and help you make money along the way.

My writing style attracts more people like me, and that’s exactly the audience that I want. What type of personality do you want to portray online?

#6 Don’t Be Afraid to Call Out the Status Quo

Being a leader sometimes feels like a lonely path.

But it’s better to call out what’s not working and bring it to people’s attention than allow people to continue to meander.

#7 Get Paid or Grow Your Audience

There are two outputs that come from marketing: traffic and sales.

If you’re not growing your reach or the dollars in your bank account, cut those activities off your to do list now.

#8 Build a System, Not a To-Do List

“Your Goals are Only as Good as Your Systems”

Don’t depend on your “mood” to determine your success. Building a system allows your business to stay consistent - especially for the days you don’t “feel like it.”

#9 Automation Before People

People may disagree with me on this. But before you hire someone to do “X” tasks, see if there’s a tool already out there that can automate the tasks for you. Labor is the largest expense, and if you want to increase your profitability, you can lower your expenses.

Tasks assigned to people are tasks you cannot automate yourself.

#10 Your Business Reflects Your Money Mindset

And if it’s shit, you can bet your ass that your business finances are shit with it.

Get a grasp of how money flows into your business. Really understand how much money you should allocate to expenses, salaries, and so forth.

#11 Build an Income Foundation

Similar to the daily cash flow, you want to understand how much money you’re pulling in monthly without your presence involved.

When you know this, you can consider that money your income foundation. Your goal is to add to that foundation as much as possible. I do this through affiliate marketing:

#12 Have Fun and Be Driven By a Mission

“Making Money Doesn’t Mean You Can’t Have Fun With What You Do”

I really hate it when people say that money is the root of all evil. But it's really not, it just amplifies more of who you are to begin with.

If you’re a shitty person to begin with, money just amplifies that.

If you’re a kind person, money gives you the opportunity to do good things with it.

Be driven by a mission, not by money.

Having a mission will keep you staying the path you’re on more than money. Because once the money dries out, you have no fuel. A mission is an unlimited source of energy that will get you through the hard times.
