Mistakes we make almost every day cut us years from our lives. When we are teenagers or in our 20s we do not pay much attention. But when you reach the 30s you start to worry about these “simple” habits.

And around the age of 40, you start thinking about the mistakes you made in health issues. What could you change, what can you prevent and what can you fix?

What are the mistakes most people make in their daily lives? You will see them below and it is good to correct them before 40.

Stuck with the cell phone

Are you stuck on your cell phone 24 hours a day? It’s time to dump her and move on.

A Harvard study linked the long hours in front of the television to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Now a study at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston shows that the light emitted by the screen of the mobile phone “disrupts” the circadian rhythm, turning the night’s sleep into a “fight”.

Tip: Take a 10-minute break for every hour you use your smart devices

You forget to sleep

You may think that the 24 hours of the day are not enough for you to catch what you need to do. And so you start discounting some of your habits and the easiest is sleep.

So just as your cell phone needs a charged battery to work, so does your mind and body need recharging. The age group from 18–64 needs 7–9 hours of sleep daily otherwise the risk of hypertension, stroke, obesity, depression, and aging increases significantly.

Tip: Create a relaxing sleep ritual by eating lightly before and taking a relaxing bath. Of course, remove all smart devices from your bed.

Mistakes that burden our health

Mistakes we make every night. And this is because we are tired and all we want at night is to take a quick “dip” in bed. Did we forget something? Brushing your teeth and regular oral hygiene does not only contribute to your beauty and radiant smile.

Plaque on the teeth and especially on the gums creates significant oral problems that most affect men between the ages of 30–40. From women according to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Research has also shown that oral diseases can be a harbinger of heart problems.

Tip: If flossing seems like a ritual after brushing, you can find alternatives on the market. Such as mouthwashes

The revolution of the empty stomach

The daily routine does not leave you time to breathe. How much more to eat. But experts advise that leaving your stomach empty for many hours is not good at all. If you fast for many hours it is very likely that when it comes time for dinner you will eat fast. You will consume more. This can drive your metabolism crazy and prepare you for type 2 diabetes. About 2/3 of adults with diabetes have been diagnosed between the ages of 40–64.

Tip: Start the day with a good, energetic breakfast. Eat small meals every 3–4 hours eg fruit, yogurt

The usual suspect, smoking

One of the mistakes most people make is smoking. There is nothing positive about smoking, we all know that. On the contrary, the effects on health are many. Increased risks for heart disease, lung cancer, stroke. Cigarette addiction is a dilemma. It takes faith and perseverance. Research has shown that breaking the habit before the age of 40 reduces the risk of premature death by 90%. If cut between 40–50 years the risk is reduced by 2/3.

Tip: If you can not do it yourself, seek the help of a specialist for smoking cessation tips and practices.

Mistakes that harm health — Dehydration, the great enemy

Water nourishes every cell of the body and the skin. So it is important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Thus slowing down the aging process. When we do not offer our skin the necessary moisture it loses its radiance and freshness. Its elasticity and acquires wrinkles more easily. Without water, the cells are destroyed and the tissues lose their elasticity. In addition, adequate daily water intake maintains balance in our bodies. In order to eliminate the toxins produced by it.

Tip: If your urine is deep yellow it is a sign that you need hydration.

You are lying to your doctor

One of the mistakes that many make is to lie. Patients lie and doctors know it! According to a survey, 77% of doctors say that one in four patients overlook their symptoms. Or they lie about their health.

28% of doctors believe that half of their patients or more are telling half the truth. Given that over time health problems increase even an innocent lie can burden the body

Tip: Prefer the truth. Doctors can only help when they know what is happening 100%

Mistakes in sex

Sex is good for the health of both men and women. Healthy sex life has benefits for the body as it reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, helps with weight loss, reduces the risk of depression, relieves pain. “The presence of sex in everyday life must be maintained when you enter middle age, as an important part of the intimacy between the couple,” says Dr. Jeffrey Taber. “It is difficult to re-establish a healthy love life when you have abandoned it,” he adds.

Tip: Spend time with your partner and enjoy sex leaving scars and problems away

Mistakes with alcohol

Those over 35 must admit that a night out with a crazy party and a lot of alcohol is not over in a 24 hour period, as was the case at the age of 20. Excessive alcohol consumption becomes toxic to the body. “It causes dehydration and is a process that the body can not get over quickly, especially over time,” say experts. The key is moderation: do not drink more than one drink a day if you are a woman and more than two if you are a man.

Tip: Prefer wine or beer

The battle of salt

It will be good as we get older to pay a little more attention to our diet and daily salt intake. Salt has an insidious way of penetrating our diet, even if we do not add it. It is found in bread, processed meats, soups, meats, sauces, everywhere. Most people consume more than their bodies can handle. Salt raises blood pressure and high blood pressure is a major cause of stroke, heart failure, and heart attack. Associated with increased chances of developing stomach cancer, osteoporosis, obesity, kidney stones, and kidney disease

Tip: Read the ingredients in the food packaging you buy and stay below 2mg of salt per day (or 1.5mg if you have high blood pressure).
